James Robinson born circa 1781 second son of the Rev John Robinson, curate of St Luke's
and Frances Graham of Cuffe Street. He was educated at his father's Cuffe Street school
and admitted Kings Inns. He was a solicitor with offices variously at 40 Cuffe Street, 50
Bishop’s Street and Baggot Street. His father died at Cuffe Street in 1831 aged 86 and was
buried at St Peters. James married Anne Robinson and they lived at Priest House in 1835/6.
James died on 19 Jan 1838 at his house in Herbert Street survived by his wife and five
children. Anne died 4 Jun 1858 and was buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Fanny Robinson born circa 1810 died at Baggot Street in 1828.
2 Ann Robinson eldest daughter married William Alexander Noble on 26 Oct 1835 at Taney
Church. William was the only son of Major Samuel Nobel of Moyne Hall, Cavan, late of
the 2nd Native Cavalry, Bengal.
1 Son Noble born 25 Sep 1836 at Cavan.
3 James Robinson eldest son born 21 Dec 1814 called to the Irish Bar in 1836. He was a
partner in J & A Robinson, solicitors of Stephen's Green. He died a bachelor on
1 Jul 1885 at 44 Fitzwilliam Square and was buried at Mount Jerome. He left 8k in
personal estate. Probate to John Robinson and the Rev Henry Robinson.
4 John Robinson born circa 1816 was articled to his father and was admitted a solicitor
despite being a minor on the death of his father. He married Isabella Boyd on 8 Jun 1843
at St Peter’s Church, Dublin. Isabella was the youngest daughter of the late John Boyd of
Stephen’s Green. He was a partner in J & A Robinson, solicitors of Stephen's Green. John
gave up his legal practice in 1851 to set up the (Dublin) Daily Express Newspaper which he
sold in 1889. Isabella died at Uplands Greystones on 17 Dec 1895 and John died same
place in December 1898. Both are buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Fanny Robinson eldest daughter born 7 Apr 1844 at Herbert Street died on
28 Feb 1866 at Waterloo Road. She was buried at Mount Jerome.
2 Son Robinson born August 1845 at Herbert Street.
3 Son Robinson born 1 Dec 1846 died the following day at Herbert Street.
4 Stillborn daughter Robinson in February 1848.
5 Isabella Mary Robinson born at Herbert Street on 10 Mar 1849. She married the
Rev Charles Thomas Ovenden on 7 Feb 1871 at St Stephen’s Church. Charles was
the eldest son of the late W Chambers Ovenden. Charles was Dean of St Patrick's
Cathedral and they lived at Earlscliff, Bailey, Howth. They were the parents of Dr
Isabella (Ella) Gertrude Amy Webb. Charles died 9 Jul 1924 and Isabella died a few
weeks later in August 1924.
6 John Joseph Robinson eldest son born 16 Jan 1852 was educated at Blackheath School
and Trinity College. He took Holy orders and married Henrietta Harriet Lubbock on
18 Jun 1878 at St John the Evangelist Church, Holborn. Henrietta was the youngest
daughter of John William Lubbock, Bart of High Elms, Kent. Her brother became the
first Lord Avebury. They had four sons and two daughters. John was rector of Taney
and later Dean of Belfast. He went to Canada to visit two of his sons in 1911, decided
to stay and tendered his resignation. He was warden of St John's College, Winnipeg
and died in 14 Jun 1916. Henrietta died in Surrey in 1931.
1 John Lubbock Robinson eldest born 1879 in Dublin son took Holy Orders. He
was rector of Kilbride, Bray and married Helen Mabel Smith in 1907 at St
Stephen’s Church. He died in 1957.
2 Grace Harriet Robinson born circa 1881 living in Waterford in 1901. She married
Cdr Bernard Trotter Coote, OBE on 3 Apr 1907 in Belfast.
3 David Lubbock Robinson second son born 11 Aug 1882 in Dublin. He was
educated at St Columba's College, Rathfarnham, and TCD. He was an
international Hockey Player. He qualified as a solicitor and emigrated with his
family to Canada. He returned to Ireland and was elected in 1931 to the Seanad.
He died unmarried on 21 Aug 1943 at Glenowen, Delgany, the home of his
sister May.
4 Constance Mary (May) Robinson born circa 1884 married Meysey Somerset Turton
in December 1910 at St Nicholas' Church in Slough. Meysey was the eldest son of
the late Commander Ralph L Turton. Meysey was a stockbroker in London and
died in 1927. May returned to Ireland in the 1930s and lived at Glenowen, Delgany.
5 Frank Lubbock Robinson born 1886 in Dublin served in both WW1 and WW2 and
was awarded the MC in 1915. He died at Le Moye, Jersey on 5 Nov 1949.
6 Norman Lubbock Robinson born circa 1890 died in 1951.
7 Henry Lighton Robinson younger son born circa 1854 was a barrister. He married
Winifred Ann (Vina) Patterson on 14 Dec 1875 at Monkstown Church. Vina was the
youngest daughter of Major Patterson of Gortlee, Co Donegal. Winifred died on
20 Mar 1882 aged 27 at Herbert Street and was buried at Mount Jerome. Henry was
living with wife Rosalie and three of his children at Blaineroe in 1901. He died on
4 Jul 1907 late of Blaineroe House.
8 Stillborn daughter Robinson 12 Mar 1856.
9 Annie Henrietta Robinson born 21 Jul 1858 at Herbert Street was a missionary and died
unmarried on 9 Feb 1911 at Cowper Road.
5 Henrietta Robinson, second daughter born circa 1817 married Edward Hartson Burroughs
on 14 Sep 1840 at St Peter’s Church, Dublin. Edward was a barrister of Harcourt Street and
the third son of William Hartson Burroughs and Charlotte Colclough of Greenfield Lodge,
Dublin.
6 Archibald Robinson born circa 1821 was admitted Kings Inns and was in practice with his
brother John at 11 Herbert Street by 1846 and in Lower Fitzwilliam Street in 1854. He was a
partner in J & A Robinson, solicitors of Stephen's Green. He married Rhoda Jane Nugent on
21 Dec 1854 at St Mary’s Church. Rhoda was the eldest daughter of Rev Edmond Nugent of
Rutland Square. Archibald died 10 Oct 1887 at Llanmaur, Shankill, his son James the
informant. He left 42k in personal estate. Rhoda died 18 Apr 1915 aged 79 at
Fitzwilliam Square and left 7k in personal estate. Both are buried at Mount Jerome.

He married Elizabeth Sarah Armstrong Wharton on 7 Feb 1884 at St Peters Church.
Elizabeth was the daughter of James Henry Wharton. He died 20 Apr 1900 at St Vincent’s
Hospital and was buried at Mount Jerome.
2 Mary Anne (Marian) Robinson born 30 Aug 1857 baptised at St Peters. She married William
J Delap of Villa Nova, Co Kerry on 24 Jan 1889 at St Peter’s Church, Dublin. Williams was
the eldest son of Rev A Delap of Ray, Co Donegal.
3 Edmund Robinson born 17 Dec 1858 at 13 Lower Fitzwilliam Street baptised at St Peters.
Edmund took Holy orders. He married Anna Elizabeth Delap on 22 Jun 1887 at Valentia.
Anna was the daughter of The Rev Alexander Delap of Ray, of Donegal, the incumbent of
Valentia. He was rector of St Marks in 1896 and was appointed vicar of Glenageary in
1902. They had ten children all who survived in 1911. He died in February 1929 at 15
Belgrave Square, Monkstown.
4 Rhoda Robinson born 2 Dec 1861 Lower Fitzwilliam Street baptised at St Peters. She
married Francis Trantham Gilliat of Barham, Reigate at St Stephen's Church on12 Apr 1893.
Rhoda died in Sussex on 1 Nov 1916.
5 Anne Robinson born 4 May 1863 at Lower Fitzwilliam Street baptised at St Peters. She
married Gerald Fitzgibbon Brunskill on 26 Mar 1896 at St Ann’s Church, Dublin. Gerald
was a barrister and the son of Thomas R Brunskill of Mount Street. They had two children
and were living in Mount Street in 1901. Gerald died in 1918.
6 James Robinson the informant of his fathers death in 1887 and mentioned in his will.
