Robert Wilson born circa 1805 son of Joseph Wilson, a merchant. He married Catherine
Callwell at Powerscourt Church on 8 Jul 1830. Catherine was the daughter of Nathaniel
Callwell of Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin. Catherine died at 31 Leeson Street on 21 Apr 1851.
1 Maria Wilson eldest daughter born circa 1832. She married Espine Batty on 1 Feb 1862
at Ventnor Church, Isle of Wight, the ceremony performed by her brother Rev Joseph N
Wilson. Espine was a widower and a barrister of St Stephen Green and Ballyhealy, Co
Westmeath. Espine Batty lived at 59 St Stephen’s Green; he was compensated for slaves
to the tune of £4,891, while his brother Fitzherbert received nearly double that amount.
Espine died in 1883, probate to his wife Maria. Maria died in Wimbledon in 1920.
1 Espine Fitzherbert Batty born circa 1863 married Emily Pauline Haddock on
20 Jan 1886 at Harlington. Emily was the eldest daughter of the Rev Edward I
Haddock of Harlington. Espine was a barrister and they were living at Monkton
Combe, Somerset in 1911. She attended her brother Arthur’s funeral in 1915.
Espine died 15 Jul 1931 at Brislington House near Bristol and Emily died
26 May 1938 in London.
1 Kathleen Singer Batty born 26 Nov 1886 at Ballyhealy, Delvin, Westmeath
living at Monkton Combe, Somerset in 1911 and living with her great aunt
Ellen in Wimbledon in 1921. She was a Sister of Mercy at the Convent of St
John Baptist, Windsor in 1939.
2 Espine Robert Fitzherbert Batty born 15 Jan 1888 at Ballyhealy emigrated to
Australia.
3 Pauline Irene Batty born 17 Nov 1891 at Ballyhealy living at Monkton Combe,
Somerset in 1911 died unmarried in 1918.
4 Edward Allan Fitzherbert Batty born 23 May 1893 at Mount Street.
2 Joseph Nathaniel Wilson eldest son born at upper Pembroke Street baptised at St Peter’s
on 15 Feb 1833 graduated Trinity (gold medallist and senior moderator) and took Holy
orders. He was appointed to the curacy of St Patrick’s Waterford in 1858. He died at
Schwalbach, Nassau on 4 Jul 1863 as son of Robert Wilson of Dundrum House.
3 Frederick Robert Wilson born at Fitzwilliam Square, baptised 30 Jan 1835 at St Peters
living at Waterloo Road in 1877. He was an army surgeon based at Spike Island and as
eldest surviving son married Anne Lyons at Limerick on 19 Feb 1873. Anna was the
daughter of Philip Lyons, MD of Limerick. They were living at 3 Prospect Place, Portland,
Weymouth, Dorset with their two children in 1881. Frederick retired with the rank of
Brigade major and died at Perth on 9 Jan 1892.

4 Elizabeth Susan Wilson born at Fitzwilliam Square baptised 15 Feb 1836 at St Peter’s.
She put 28 Waterloo Road up for sale in 1882 as she and her sister were moving to
England. She was unmarried and living with her sister Ellen in Wimbledon in 1901. She
died at Wimbledon on 23 Dec 1909 and was probate was to her sister.
5 Arthur Wilson baptised 9 Oct 1837 at Brighton. He was educated at Trinity and
entered the Inner Bar. He was a barrister and married Mary Bardgett on 15 Aug 1865
at St John’s Church, Hampstead. Mary was the daughter of the late William Bardgett
and Jane Malcolm of Leyton, Essex. He was reporter for the Incorporate Council of law
Reporting from 1865 to 1867, puisne judge Supreme Court of Calcutta from 1878 to
1892, legal advisor and solicitor to the Secretary of State for India from 1892 to 1902.
He was also Vice Chancellor of Calcutta University. He was Knighted on 1 Jan 1898 and
was a member of the judicial committee of Privy Council from 1902 to 1911. They
lived at Chertsey in 1911 and four of their seven children had survived. Arthur died
on 28 Dec 1915 at The Moorings, Heathside, Woking. Mary died in 1926.
1 Robert William Wilson born 28 Nov 1867 in Hampstead living with his
parents in 1871. He married Gwendoline Mary Watson on 5 Jul 1893 at St
Mary’s Abbott, Kensington. Gwendoline was the daughter of John Watson
of Waresley Court, Worcestershire. Robert was a private secretary and they
were living at Carlisle Mansions in 1901 and at St Mary Bourne, Hampshire
in 1911. Gwendoline was a widow by 1921.

2 Arthur Edward Wilson born 1868 in Hampstead died at 18 St George’s
Square, Regent’s Park on 21 Sep 1871.
3 Malcolm Wilson born 2 Nov 1869 at St George’s Square, Regents Park living
with his parents in 1871. He joined the Royal Irish Fusiliers in 1891. He was
killed in action on 17 Jun 1910 in Ashanti late of 37 Lexham Gardens,
probate to his sister Jeanie.
4 George Herbert Wilson fourth son born 16 May 1871 at George’s Square,
Regents Park died in Vancouver in 1911.
5 Jeanie Catherine Wilson born 30 Jan 1873 in at 52 Cromwell Road West,
Kensington. She was unmarried and living with her parents in 1901. She was
living with her mother at Laughton Cottage, Cavendish Road, Felixstowe in 1921.
6 Archibald Edward (Archie) Wilson youngest son born 1 Aug 1875 in
Kensington, London. He married Ethel Mary Schuster in 1906. He was a
master at Winchester College. He was chief mourner at his father’s funeral.
He died 14 Sep 1923 in Winchester, Hampshire.
7 Mary Grace Wilson born 7 Apr 1878 at 37 Lexham Gardens, Kensington died
same place on 17 May 1878.
6 Robert Henry Wilson born at Harcourt Street baptised at St Peters on 29 Sep 1839.
He was with the Bengal Civil service and married Isabella Mary Ann Jackson on
9 Aug 1881 at Paulinus Church, Crayford, Kent. Isabella was the daughter of the
late Captain J C Jacskon, Bengal Army. Robert attended his brother’s Arthur funeral
and died 3 Apr 1917.

8 Elinor Jane (Ellen Jane) Wilson born at 31 Leeson Street baptised at 15 Jan 1844 at
St Peters. She put 28 Waterloo Road up for sale in 1882 as she and her sister were
moving to England. She was unmarried and living in Wimbledon in 1901 with her
sister Elizbeth.
9 Katherine Wilson born circa 1845. She was of St Valerie, Bray and married Rev
Edward Isaac Haddock* of South Kensington, London on 22 Sep 1871 at
Christchurch Bray. They were living at Harlington, Staines, Middlesex in 1891
where Edward was parish rector. Edward died 2 Nov 1904 and Katherine died
5 Mar 1922, both at Harlington.
10 Herbert Wilson born at 31 Leeson Street baptised at St Peter’s on 14 Dec 1848. Rev
Herbert Wilson appointed to the curacy of Hammersmith in 1876 was executor to
his father in 1877. He was appointed rector of Hailey in 1893 before moving to
Harlington in 1905. He married Eleanor Mary Green on 28 Oct 1902 at St Pauls,
Wilton Place, Knightsbridge. Eleanor was the daughter of the Rev William Edward
Green of Avington. He attended his brother Sir Arthur’s funeral in 1916. Eleanor
died 12 Feb 1918. Herbert published ‘800 Years of Harlington Parish Church’ in
1926 and died 15 Jul 1929.
Robert of 31 Leeson Street secondly married Anne Hill at St Peter’s Church on 6 Jun 1854.
Annie was living at 56 Upper Leeson Street and was the eldest daughter of the late William
Hill of Donnybrook House, Doneraile, Co Cork, agent to Hayes St Leger, 3rd Viscount. They
lived at Richmond Cottage, Monkstown from 1855 to 1861 and Robert was churchwarden
of Monkstown in 1857. They were living at Dundrum House from 1863, and Waterloo Road
in 1871. Anne died on 24 Mar 1873 at Cannes, France. Robert died a widower on
12 Jan 1877 at 28 Waterloo Road. He left 40k in personal estate.
11 Daughter Wilson born at Richmond Monkstown 25 May 1855.
12 Daughter Wilson born 30 Jul 1856 at Richmond, Monkstown.

Edward Isaac Haddock married Pauline Amelia Singer in 1854. Pauline born 1834 daughter of
