John Reilly eldest son of James Miles Reilly and Emilia Georgina Susanna Montgomery of Cloon
Eavin, County Down. John a practising barrister married Hon Augusta Sugden youngest daughter
of Edward Burtenshaw Sugden, 1st Baron St Leonards and Winifred Knapp his wife on 14.08.1845.
He was appointed Deputy Keeper of the Rolls in 1856. They lived at St Bridget’s, Clonskeagh
between 1866 and 1875. John died in 1875, probate to his widow Hon Augusta Reilly and his
brother Francis Savage Reilly. Augusta and her daughters lived at 52 Chester Square, St George,
Hanover Square, London from at least 1881 to 1901. Augusta died 29.12.1903, probate to daughter
Emily.
1 Emily Reilly eldest daughter born 17.06.1846 at Upper Pembroke Street. Emily was living
with her mother at Chester Square until 1901. By 1911 Emily was living at 83 Cadogan
Place, Chelsea and died there on 29.01.1914 aged 67 years leaving nearly £40,000.
2 Kathleen Matilda Reilly 2nd daughter born 21.05.1851 at 21 Upper Pembroke Street and
baptised at St Peter’s Church, Dublin. Kathleen married Captain Matthew John Bell of the
13th Light Infantry eldest son of Matthew Bell of Bourne Park, Kent on 07.07.1870 at
Taney Church, Dundrum. In 1881 they were living in Kent. By 1901 they were living in
Chelsea. Matthew died on 08.02.1902 after a long illness of 105 Cadogan Gardens, South
Kensington. Probate to his widow Kathleen. Kathleen died on 28.03.1911 at Nice, France
leaving £30,000.
3 Winifred Ellen Reilly youngest daughter born 07.02.1853 at 21 Upper Pembroke Street,
Dublin baptised at St Peter’s, Dublin. Winifred married Lt Hon John Montagu Stopford of the
52nd Light Infantry 4th son of James Thomas Stopford the 4th Earl of Courtown on
05.05.1881 at the Parish Church, Thames Ditton, Surrey. John died on 22.10.1885 aged 32
years at Sandgate from illness contracted whilst serving on the staff in the Sudan during the
war of 1885 and is buried at Cheriton, Kent.
1 Dora Claire Stopford born 04.09.1883 at 52 Chester Square, London and married
Dougal Orme Malcolm on 20.06.1910 at St Margaret’s, Westminster, London.
Winifred married secondly Arthur Saunders William Charles Fox Gore 5th Earl of Arran of the
Arran Islands son of Philip Yorke Gore on 29.07.1889 at Royal Chapel, Cumberland Lodge,
Windsor Park, Berkshire, England attended by Prince and Princess Christian. Lady Arran was
Lady in Waiting to Princess Charlotte for some years. Arthur died 14.03.1901 aged 62 years
at his residence 16 Hertford Street, London. Dora died 12.11.1921 at 50 Eaton Square,
London.
2 Lady Winifred Helena Lettice Gore born 11.08.1891 baptised at Christ Church, Mayfair.
