John William Reid son of James Reid, coachman and his wife Mary Johnstone from Newtownpark was
born in Cavan circa 1878. He married Mary Anne Jolley daughter of Christopher Jolley, builder and
his wife Anne Devitt at All Saints Church, Blackrock on 8 Aug 1906. John was a motor car driver/
chauffeur and the family lived at Stillorgan Church buildings from 1906 to 1909. John was working as
a chauffeur at Oatlands and the family were living at Newtownpark by 1919. John became a taxi
proprietor and the family were living at Corrig House, Newtownpark in 1934. Mary died at Corrig
House on 29 Jun 1947 and John died at St Vincent’s Hospital, late of Corrig House on 22 Feb 1953, his
funeral was held at All Saints, Blackrock. They were buried at Deansgrange with John’s parents and
grandfather.
1 Georgina Gladys (Georgie) Reid born 2 Nov 1908 at Church Buildings, Stillorgan (the old
dispensary) was baptised at Stillorgan Parish Church. Georgina married William Baker at All
Saints, Blackrock on 3 Oct 1934. William was a gardener son of George Baker and was living at
Dunedin Lodge, Monkstown. Georgie was living at Corrig House in 1969.
2 Annie Emily Reid born 26 Mar 1909 at Church Buildings, Stillorgan baptised at Stillorgan
Parish Church was unmarried in 1937 but later married and as Anne King lived at Primrose
Avenue.
3 Christopher John Reid born 13 Jun 1911 at Oatlands baptised at Stillorgan Parish Church.
Christopher married Pauline Christina Moore on 6 Oct 1937 at C of I Drumcondra Church.
Christopher was living at Corrig House and was a commercial clerk. Pauline was the daughter
of Albert Moore, a civil servant and was living at Brian Road, Marino at the time of their
marriage and moved to Glenview House, Mornington, Drogheda in 1934 and was sales
manager with Irish Oil and Cake Mills. Christopher was a keen golfer and was
commodore of the Boyne Yacht Club. Christopher died 11 Oct 1969 at Sir Patrick Dun's, late
of Glenview House and was buried at Julianstown Graveyard.
4 Cyril James Reid born 9 Oct 1915 at Stillorgan died 16 Feb 1917 and was buried at Stillorgan
Parish Graveyard.
5 Barbara Mary Reid born 26 Oct 1919 at Newtown Park was living in Blackrock in 1969.
