Patrick Joseph Plunkett born circa 1818 second son of Walter Plunkett of Julienstown, Co
Meath. His father died 28 Apr 1844 and Patrick was married to Elizabeth Noble at Aungier
Street on 16 May 1847 by the Rev Mr Mulhall of St Andrew’s Westland Row. Elizabeth was
the only surviving daughter of the late John Noble of Dublin and it is thought that she was
a widow of a Mr Murphy. They were living at Palmerston Road by 1869 and Patrick was a
director of McSwiney & Co by 1872. Elizabeth died 16 Dec 1873 at 14 Palmerston Park.

3 George Nobel Plunkett born 7 Dec 1851 was educated Clongowes Wood College
and Dublin University and married Josephine Mary Cranny.
Patrick Joseph secondly married Helena Mary O’Sullivan in 1877 in London and they had five
children of whom four survived in 1911. He was a builder and a house and estate agent with
offices at 39 Pembroke Street. He was a member of Rathmines UDC. He was an organiser
of the St Vincent de Paul Society. Patrick died 21 Sep 1918 at 14 Palmerston Road. Helena
died at Linden Convalescent Home, Stillorgan late of Palmerston Road on 24 July 1933 aged
79.

5 Angelo Plunkett for 1 Feb 1881 at Palmerston Road died same place after 34 hours.
6 Oliver Patrick Plunkett second son born 4 Feb 1884 at 14 Palmerston Road was
educated at Wimbledon College and Pembroke College, Oxford. He married
Cordelia Edmè Wheler on 29 Jul 1907 at the Church of the Sacred Heart, Hove,
Sussex. Cordelia was the younger daughter of the late Lieut Col Sir Edward Wheler
and Mary Leontine Wood. Oliver was called to the Irish Bar in 1909 and he enlisted
and served in WWI. He was called to English Bar in 1923 and joined the Colonial
Services. He was appointed Chief Justice of Saint Lucia in 1923 and later served as a
judge in Palestine and Egypt. He died at Brecon House, Rotherfield in May 1971.

Villiers Road, Rathmines. He married Penelope Mary Dumas in May 1939.

4 Oliver Peter Plunkett born 1 Sep 1914 at 53 Palmerston Road served as a pilot
in the RAF during WWII and killed in 1941.
5 Gerald Walter Plunket born 3 Feb 1918 at 53 Palmerston Road served in the
Anti-Aircraft Royal Artillery during WWII and was killed in 1943.
7 Gerald Plunkett born 11 Aug 1887 at 14 Palmerston Road in Dublin educated at
Pembroke College, Oxford and was called to the Irish Bar in 1910. On the outbreak of
war in 1914 he joined the Officers Training Corps at Trinity College and on 20 Oct 1914
he was gazetted Temporary Sub Lieutenant in the RNVR. Sub Lieutenant Plunkett of
Collingwood Battalion, 2nd Naval Brigade was killed on 4 Jun 1915 at the Dardanelles
and is remembered at the Helles Memorial in Turkey.
8 Helena Mary Josephine Plunkett younger daughter born 5 Feb 1886 was educated at
Mount Anville. She married Arthur P Barry on 15 Jul 1908 at Rathgar R C Church. Arthur
was a medical doctor of Baggot Street and the son of Henry Harte Barry. Her sister
Germaine and William McCormack acted as witnesses.
