James Pim son of Jonathan and Sara Pim married Huldah Wakefield on 20 Apr 1794 at
Mountmellick. Huldah was the fourth daughter of Joseph Wakefield. They lived at Grange
Lodge, Queen’s County. Huldah died 30 Jan 1843 at Mountmellick and James died
15 May 1848 at Mountmellick.

6 James Pim born 28 Dec 1803 at Mountmellick. He was a merchant and married Sarah
Pim on 30 Nov 1833. Sarah was the eldest daughter of Thomas and Mary Pim of
Monkstown House. He was a merchant and grain broker of 11 Burgh Quay with a
residence at Monkstown Avenue. He became involved in the import of ‘Indian Corn’
(maize) from New York (through Abraham Bell and Sons) to feed the starving population
during the potato harvests failures of 1845 and 1846. He was selling seed potatoes in
1848. He was president of the Dublin Corn Exchange Association in 1853. He had 200
acres of land at Fox Rock which he offered for grazing in 1855.
He purchased the Stillorgan Park estate in 1860 from Arthur Guinness. He was a
generous man supporting many charities. He was the Sardinian Consul in 1861 and
raised money to help two Italian artists/sculptors who had lost their homes, possessions
and stock when a fire broke out in Lincoln Place. He joined the board of the Mercantile
Credit Company in 1863. James Pim and Co failed in 1869 and they suspended
payments. James was living at Monkstown View and was in partnership with James Pim
the younger, William Harvey Pim, the younger of London and Arthur Pim of Oriel
Chambers, Liverpool. They had 200k in liabilities and placed the company books into
the hands of Messrs Cooper, Brother and Co of London. This failure included their
London and Liverpool operations. The reason for the failure was that the market for
grain had fallen dramatically and their stock had lost up to 50% of its value. However,
they had other numerous assets. In 1871 the 121 acre demesne and Manor house at
Stillorgan Park were up for sale through the Encumbered Court. James died 29 Mar 1892
at Bray and left 13k in personal estate. He is buried at Temple Hill. Sarah died at 3
Florence Terrace, Bray on 17 Oct 1898 aged 88.
1 James Pim eldest son born circa 1836 married Elizabeth Fayle Evans on
23 Aug 1859 at the Friends Meeting House in Eustace Street. Elizabeth was the
second daughter of John Evans, MD of Richmond Street. They were living at
Kilmore House, Killiney in 1869 and by 1871 they were living at Charlemount,
Brighton Road in Foxrock. By 1874 James was running the successful Dublin
Granaries Company operating from Burgh Quay and was later a director Bank of
Ireland. They had eleven children of whom ten survived in 1911. Elizabeth died
9 May 1914 at Merdon, Dalkey. James died same place on 25 Jun 1917 and left
14k in personal estate.

married Nora Gordon (Ranee) Scott on 3 Jan 1916 in Allahabad. Ranee was
the daughter of Sir John Scott. Alan, one of the founders of Oxfam died on
28 Jun 1958 in Oxford.

Richardson at the Friends Meeting House Brookfield (near Moira), Co Antrim on the
1 Mar 1876. Annie was the only daughter of James and Margaret Maria Richardson of
Lisburn.
6 Theodore Pim born 1845 at Monkstown Lodge attended Bootham School in York and
died 22 Sep 1929 in Guilford.
7 Robert Pim youngest son born 21 Jul 1846 at Rutland attended Bootham School in
York. He was resident in London and married Mary Elizabeth Belton on 2 Mar 1880
at Christ Church, Cork. Mary was the daughter of James H Belton of South Mall, Cork.
Robert died in 1925.
