David Richard Pigot born circa 1797 only son of John Pigot, a physician and Margaret Nagle
of Kilworth, Co Cork. He was educated at Fermoy and Trinity College. He studied medicine
in Edinburgh and was admitted Kings Inns and called to the Irish Bar in 1826. He married
Catherine Paye in 1821. Catherine was the eldest daughter of Walter and Mary Anne Paye
of Araglin Mills, Cork. He was Attorney General for Ireland from 1840 to 1841. In 1846 he
was the first Catholic to be appointed Chief Baron of the exchequer. David died 23.12.1873
at 15 Merrion Square, probate to Thomas F Pigot. He was interred at the family burying
ground Cork. Catherine died at 52 St Stephen's Green and is buried with her husband.
1 John Edward Pigot eldest son born 28.02.1822 at Kilworth, Co Cork was a member
of the Young Ireland Party. He was a talented musician and composed a number of
airs for the publication 'Spirit of a Nation'. He married Annie Prendergast daughter
of late Lieutenant John Prendergast RN on 29.12.1851 at St Andrew’s Roman Catholic
Church, Westland Row. John died 01.07.1871 at 15 Merrion Square East; Informant
David R Pigot of Dundrum House. He was buried at Glasnevin.
2 David Richard Pigot second son born 05.07.1823 in Cork married Christina Murray
daughter of Sir James Murray on 05.12.1848 at the Parish Church, Belfast. They lived
at Meadowbrook in Dundrum from 1857 to 1861, Dundrum House in 1871 and by
1884 were living at Churchtown House, Dundrum. David was Master of the Exchequer
and was also VP of the RIA and a member of the academic council of Dublin University.
Christina died on 08.04.1887 at Churchtown House, aged 64 years and was buried in
Dundrum. David died 26.07.1906 at Churchtown House and is buried at St Nahi’s
Churchyard, Dundrum. He left 7k in personal estate.
1 Christina (Mina) Pigot eldest daughter born circa 1852 married James Poole
Maunsell on 21.10.1885 at Taney Church. James was a journalist and editor of
the Daily Express newspaper. He was the son of Henry Mansell of Landsend,
Stillorgan. James died on 09.01.1897 aged 42 years at Churchtown House and is
buried at Taney.

King’s Bench Division in the Four Courts died unmarried on 05.05.1909 aged 55
years at 49 Mespil Road, Dublin. Informant sister Christina Maunsell.
3 Walter Thomas Pigot born 25.06.1854 baptised at St Michan's. He was a lieutenant
in the Royal Navy annd married Catherine Georgina Deare on 05.06.1884 at St Mary's,
Long Ditton, Surrey. Catherine was the daughter of Frederick Durant Deare. Water
was a deputy land commissioner and they were living in Cork in 1889. They were
living in Dundrum in 1901 and 1911.

resident at Dundrum House married Edgar Galbraith of TCD and the Indian Civil
Service son of Joseph Galbraith on 19.09.1876 at Taney Parish Church.

2 Edgar Galbraith born circa 1881 at Merzerphore.
3 Marie Rose Galbraith born 05.05.1892 at Brookville living with her uncle Walter
in Dundrum in 1901.
5 Edward Francis Pigot born 18.09.1858 at Meadowbrook. He graduated Trinity and
practiced as a doctor. He became a Jesuit priest and worked at the Shanghai Missions
for six years. He was an expert in seismology and astronomy and was director of the
Sydney observatory from 1908. Father Pigot died in Australia in 1929.
6 James Louis Pigot fourth son born 18 Apr 1861 at Meadowbrook baptised at Dundrum
married Isabel Frizelle on 03.10.1892 at Simla, India. Isabel was the eldest daughter of
the Hon J Frizelle, judge of the Chief Court, Punjab. Louis was chief surveyor with the
Irish Land Commission. They had four children and were living at Seafield Cottage,
Albany Road, Monkstown in 1910.
7 Katherine Margaret Pigot born circa 1863 died unmarried on 30.08.1928 at 49 Mespil
Road. Informant C Maunsell.
8 John Henry Pigot born circa 1864 a barrister at law married Alice Maud Knox daughter
of Robert Kyle Knox of Belfast on 18.08.1898 at St Patrick’s Church, Jordanstown,
Antrim. Alice died 7 Nov 1914 late of Pembroke Road. John was a County Court Judge
for Limerick, he was also a founder of the Irish Forestry Society. John lived at
Glenageary before moving to Avondale in Blackrock in 1926. He died at 97 Leeson
Street on 14 Apr 1928 late of Avondale, Avoca Avenue.

Irish Cricket Union from 1925 to 1928. He married Meta Violet Blood-Smyth on
5 Jan 1928 at Hollyhead.

Dyer Lyons MD 2nd son of Sir William Lyons on 01.07.1856 at St Andrew’s, Westland Row.
Robert died on 19.12.1886 aged 60 years at 88 Merion Square and Marie died on
02.02.1909 aged 80 years at 55 Merrion Square.
5 Jones Quain John Pigot born circa 1834 a judge of the High Court of Calcutta married
Matilda Louisa Cleverly daughter of late Oscar Cleverly of Kilworth on 16.07.1881 at the
Church of St Edward, Westminster. Matilda died on 08.07.1885 at the residence of her
uncle C St G Cleverly, Oaklands, Gipsy Hill. Jones a widower living at 29 Fitzwilliam
Square South in 1911 died on 22.11.1913 aged 78 years at the Grand Hotel, Malahide
last surviving son of late Chief Baron Pigot and is buried at Glasnevin.
6 Catherine Jane Pigot born circa 1834 died unmarried on 11.09.1920 aged 86 years at
14 Fitzwilliam Place and is buried at Glasnevin. Informant John H Pigot nephew 21
Pembroke Park.
7 Thomas Francis Pigot born circa 1837. Thomas a civil engineer died unmarried on
17.05.1910 aged 72 years at 14 Fitzwilliam Place and is buried at Glasnevin. Informant
