Col Raymond Pelly of the 16th Queen’s Lancers (Light Dragoons) married Louisa Margaret
French eldest daughter of Robert Henry French of Clonsilla, Dublin in 1818. Raymond died
circa 24.12.1845 at Mountjoy Square. In the 1870s Mrs Louisa Pelly of 5 Charlemont Terrace,
Kingstown, Co Dublin, owned over 1,500 acres in Co Roscommon. Louisa died at 5
Charlemont Terrace, Kingstown on 20.04.1882. The informant Chas R Pelly of Johnstown
House.
1 Robert Pelly eldest son born circa 1821 died on 21.10.1829 aged 8 years at
Mountjoy Square and is buried at St Mary’s, Dublin.
2 Charles Raymond Pelly 2nd son born 23.11.1824. Charles a Judge in the Indian Civil
Service of Ely Place married Jane Hamilton youngest daughter of late John Hamilton
of 22 Mountjoy Square on 26.02.1856 at St George’s Church, Dublin. Witnesses
Arthur Raymond Pelly and Thos J Hamilton. Charles retired in 1873 and lived at
Trimleston Villa. They later went to Cabinteely. Jane died on 29.04.1893 aged 73
years and Charles died 15.10.1901 both at Johnstown House, Cabinteely. They are
buried at Deansgrange.
1 Captain Charles Hamilton Pelly eldest son born 03.12.1856 at Poonamallee,
Madras died unmarried on 06.04.1885 aged 28 years at Nowgong, Bengal.
2 John Stannus Pelly born 13.01.1859 in Waltair, Madras. He was educated at
Rugby School and entered the army in 1880 and had a varied Army career.
John married 1890 to Lilian Louisa Page daughter of William Bousfield Page in
Carlisle on 06.03.1890 at St Mary’s Church, Carlisle. They lived as Tillworth
House Hawkchurch, Axminster in 1911 and Ashe House, Musbury, Devon in
1921. John died on 29.12.1938 at Redlands, Seaton. Probate to widow Lillian.
3 Louisa Sophia Pelly born 27.02.1861 at Kamptee, Madras married Maxwell
John Carpendale of Dundrum son of Captain Thomas Carter Richardson
Carpendale on 09.09.1888 at Killiney Parish Church. Louisa died on 14.03.1912
aged 50 years at 69 Strand Road, Sandymount and is buried at Deansgrange.

Florence Ellen Thorneycroft between 1881 and 1885 in Bordeaux, France. Arthur
formerly of Charlemont Terrace, Kingstown and late of Bangor died 13.12.1888 at
Montrose, Bangor, Carnarvon. Probate to widow Florence.
4 Captain Henry Raymond Pelly youngest son born 13.05.1829 at Mountjoy Square
East baptised at St George’s Church, Dublin. Henry of the Royal Engineers married
Frances Cromwell Ferguson daughter of late George Ferguson of Houghton Hall,
Cumberland and step-daughter of Col Arthur Herbert of Aldershot on 20.11.1866 at
Farnborough Parish Church. Henry died on 29.07.1869 at Aldershot aged 39 years.
5 Georgina Barbara Pelly only daughter born 25.04.1836 at Mountjoy Square
married Lieut Colonel Stephen Henry Smith of Annesbrook, Meath on 02.11.1860
at St Mary’s Church, Beaumaris, Anglesey, Wales. Georgina died on 19.06.1874 at 96
Sloane Street, London. Probate to Charles Raymond Pelly.
