1 Josiah Lowe born 19 Feb 1775 son of Edward Lowe of Crabbe Tree, Middlesex. He
married Elizabeth Jean Pagan on 24 Jan 1806 at Saint Bartholomew’s the Great, London.
Elizabeth was baptised 6 Jan 1782 at Finsbury, London the daughter of Thomas and
Jane Pagan. Josiah was on the grand jury for Dublin in 1824. He lived at Fitzwilliam
Lodge from 1828 until 1835 when he put it up for sale. He was a merchant of 23 Suffolk
Street from 1822 and agent to the London Fire and Life Assurance Corporation from
1832 based at 61 Fleet Street. Elizabeth died 2 Sep 1835 at Mount Pleasant aged 54.
Josiah died 5 Feb 1846 and is buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Amelia Pagan Lowe eldest daughter baptised 2 Feb 1807 in London married
John Thomas Le Bel at St Andrews Church, Dublin in September 1826. John
Thomas was a watch and jewellery dealer of Wellington Quay and became
insolvent in 1839. He and Amelia were appointed master and matron of the
Rathdown Workhouse in 1843. Amelia died a widow on 5 Feb 1878 at Ballyglass,
Sligo.
1 Eliza (Lizzie Jane) Le Bel eldest daughter born 6 Jun 1829 at Baggot Street.
She married Rev George French of Trinity Church, Derby on 21 Dec 1860 at
Kilmacshalgan, Dromore, Co Sligo.
2 Josiah Le Bel born November 1830 at Baggot Street died after falling into a well
at Haddington Road on 1 Oct 1842.
3 Amelia Pagan Lowe Le Bel born circa 1833 died unmarried at Knowle, Solihull,
Warwickshire 11 Jan 1908.
2 William Pagan Lowe baptised 2 May 1808 in London was educated by the Rev
William Jones, principal of Great Denmark Street Seminary and Trinity College. He
was classical master at the Charter School in Trin and died a bachelor in Trim on
28 Feb 1877.
3 Elise Day Lowe was baptised on 30 Mar 1809 in London died unmarried on
27 Mar 1890 at Roscrea.
4 Thomas Pagan Lowe born 21 Jun 1810 baptised at St Bartholomew the Great in 1813.
He secondly married Martha Cheetham 13 Aug 1838 at Sheffield Cathedral Church.
Martha died 25 Oct 1857 aged 42. Thomas died 28 Apr 1869 at Greenfield House at
Harold’s Cross and is buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Thomas Pagan Lowe died at Yuma, Arizona on 4 Jul 1903.
2 William Henry Lowe died an infant 3 Apr 1855 aged 11 days and is buried in
Mount Jerome.
3 Mary Jane Lowe died and infant aged 19th months on 13 May 1859 and is buried
at Mount Jerome.
5 Josiah Beatson Lowe baptised 11 Nov 1814 in London got a scholarship to Trinity. He married
Mary Jane Smyth in 1837. Josiah was ordained priest in 1840. Mary died 4 Nov 1840 aged 37
at Upper Leeson Street and is buried at Mount Jerome. He was curate of Ballinasloe in 1840
and transferred to Killaloe the same year.
1 Edward Thomas Lowe born circa 1837 died circa August 1838. He is buried at Mount
Jerome.
2 Son Lowe born 12 Jan 1839 at Sandycove.
3 Mary Jane Jemima Cardwell Lowe baptised at St Peter’s 17 Nov 1848.
He was assistant chaplain to the Magdalen Asylum in 1846 and was transferred to Clonfert
parish. He was president of the Young Men’s Association in 1848. He was incumbent of St
Jude’s Liverpool when he married Elizabeth Isabella Adams on 17 Jan 1851 at St Peter’s, Dublin.
Elizabeth was the eldest daughter of the late Major Benjamin Adams of Leeson Street. They
had fifteen children. Elizabeth died 3 Oct 1871.
Josiah thirdly married Emily Mary Bond on 21 Nov 1877 at Ormskirk. Josiah was appointed
rector of Yoxall, Staffordshire in 1880 where he died 26 Jun 1897.
6 Edward Lowe born 1816 in London took Holy orders. He was curate of Ballina and appointed
vicar of Kilmacshalgan in 1857 and later canon of Killlala. He died a bachelor on 27 Aug 1879
at Dromore West.
