Robert Fannin Olphert third son of Wybrants Olphert, was a barrister a law living at 2 Hume
Street and Mary Anne Constance Fannin. Robert married Frances Sophia Warburton on
5 Dec 1882 at Monkstown. Frances was living at Longford Terrace, Monkstown and was the
daughter of Richard Warburton, Dl of Garryhinch, Queen’s County and his wife Mary Ellinor
Kelly. In 1889 Robert and his father evicted 326 tenant farmers from their estate in Donegal
which was well documented by the Press. By 1902 305 of the farms had been re-let to the
old tenants. Richard was a DL and appointed resident magistrate in 1892. They lived at
Heathstown House in Co Meath from 1894 to 1915. Robert died at the Elphis Hospital on
10 Jan 1915 late of Heathstown. He left 8K in personal. After Robert’s death Frances moved
the family to Stonehouse on the Stillorgan Road. Frances died 3 Sep 1931 at Stonehouse and
left 10K in personal estate. Both are buried at Mount Jerome.
1 Wybrants Olphert eldest son born 1 Oct 1883 at 19 Herbert Street, Dublin was
educated at Eton and Cambridge. He was an inspector of ministry of the interior with
Egyptian Civil service. He died 29 Jul 1916 from Typhoid and was interred in Cairo.
2 Marian Constance Olphert born 28 Nov 1884 at 19 Herbert Street, Dublin died same
place on 12 Jan 1887.
3 Robert Hugh Olphert born 15 Feb 1886 at 19 Herbert Street, Dublin died 13 Dec 1888
at Herbert Street.
4 Albert Victor (Victor) Olphert born 7 May 1887 married Vera Lisette Darley on
16 Jul 1919 at All Saints in Blackrock. Vera was the daughter of Alfred Darley.
1 Ann Lisette Olphert born 3 Sep 1920 at Ivanhoe nursing home, Lansdowne Road.
She travelled with her mother to Port Said, Egypt in 1925. She was living with
her parents at Farnham in 1939.
2 Wybrants Olphert born 27 Jul 1922 at Ivanhoe nursing home of Stonehouse. He
travelled with his mother to Port Said, Egypt in 1925, 1926 and 1927.
5 Florence Balfour Olphert born 7 Oct 1888 at Ballyconnell House, Falcarragh Co Donegal
worked at a VAD (427 hours) Harcourt Nursing Division and for the St John’s Ambulance
during WW1. She died 13 Jan 1917 from measles and diphtheria. A plaque was erected
at St Thomas’ Church, Fosters Avenue in her memory.
6 Lewis Hamilton Olphert born 25 Sep 1889 at Ballyconnell House, Dunfanaghy died at
Epson in 1903.
7 John Cyril Olphert born 29 Oct 1890 at Ballyconnell House, Dunfanagh. He died from
pneumonia at Wellington College Berkshire on 6 Oct 1907 aged 16.
8 Robert Alan (Alan) Olphert born 2 Nov 1894 at Heathstown House was educated at
Malvern College. He served in the Royal Army Medical Corps during WW1. He was a
physician & surgeon working at St George’s Hospital in London in 1921. He died in
Surrey in 1973.
