Arthur O’Hagan born circa 1812 son of John Arthur O’Hagan, a woollen draper of Newry and
his wife Rosanna Cunningham. His younger brother John was later a judge. Arthur of Lower
Fitzwilliam Street married Ellen McGarry on 9 Oct 1848 at Clontarf. Ellen was the daughter
of the late Ambrose McGarry. Arthur O’Hagan, a solicitor of 9 Harcourt Street was in
partnership with Charles Cavanagh who died in 1862. Arthur died 13 Jun 1875 at 53
Pembroke Road and was buried at Glasnevin. His son John was his executor. Ellen died
28 Dec 1884 at Nice.
1 Mary O’Hagan born 3 May 1850 at Fitzwilliam Street baptised 5 May 1850 at St
Andrews. She married widower James McCann on 16 Oct 1871 at St Kevin’s,
Harrington Street. James was the son of James McCann, a farmer, and his wife
Dorothea Hickey. James was a stock broker and later an MP. The couple had five
children of whom four survived in 1911. James had property at Telltown and also
purchased the Russell estate in Co Meath. James died 16 Feb 1904 at Simmonscourt
Castle, his brother in law John O’Hagan the informant. Catherine died 25 Feb 1936 at
Simmonscourt Castle.

2 John O’Hagan born circa 1852 baptised at St Andrews on 2 Feb 1852. He had offices at
9 Harcourt Street and lived at Homestead from 1901 to 1909. He was unmarried in
1901 and died 6 Jan 1910 at Hotel du Parc, Cannes, in France on the way to Egypt. He
left 21k in personal estate. The practice was run after his death by his partner John
O’Donnell. John took Richard Ryan into the partnership and continued to practice under
the style of Arthur O’Hagan and Son.
3 Eleonora O’Hagan born 27 Feb 1854 at Harcourt Street baptised at St Nicholas. She was
living with her brother in law James McCann in 1901. Ellen died unmarried on 24 Jan 1937
at St Michael’s Drumcondra late of 9 Harcourt Street.
4 Roseanna O’Hagan born 19 Nov 1855 baptised at St Nicholas.
5 Arthur O’Hagan born 7 Apr 1857 at 9 Harcourt Street baptised at St Nicholas.
6 Catherine O’Hagan born 8 Jul 1859 at 9 Harcourt Street baptised at St Nicholas.
7 Thomas O’Hagan youngest son born 20 Jun 1865 at Harcourt Street died 13 Feb 1869 at 9
Harcourt Street.
