James Morton born circa 1844 in Co Fermanagh. He married Essie McGahey circa 1870. They
had seven children of whom six survived in 1911. James had a naval pension. He died
13 Mar 1922 at Crappagh. Essie died 19 Jan 1931 at Crappagh.
1 Margaret Jane Morton born 25 Jan 1876 in Crappagh, Co Monaghan married Thomas
Henry McCabe 13 May 1903 at St James’ Church, Dublin. They had two children only one
survived to 1911. Thomas was with the RIC and was from Cavan. He was the son of
Henry McCabe, a farmer.

2 Mary Ellen Morton born 2 Dec 1877 at Crappagh, Co Monaghan she was a sewing maid
living at St Brigid’s Roebuck in 1901 and living with her brother in law Thomas Henry McCabe
at Ballsbridge in 1911 and was a dressmaker. Mary Ellen of Newbliss, Co Monaghan and
19 Ballsbridge Terrace married Rev William Alexander Scanlen on 3 Jul 1913 at St Mary’s
Church Donnybrook. William was the son of William Scanlen, a land steward. William was
a chaplain to the forces and was appointed to the chaplaincy in Paris in 1922. He was later
rector of Ballymackey. Mary died on 20 Nov 1942 at Nenagh. No issue found.
William secondly married Edith Thompson on 13 Dec 1943 at St Andrews Church, Dublin.
Edith was a widow and the daughter of J Diamond, JP. William died at Portumna on
3 Mar 1955 aged 72.
3 William Morton born 15 Dec 1879 at Crappagh, Co Monaghan a farmer living with his
parents in 1911 and in 1931. He married Isabella Boles at Drumkeen, Co Monaghan on
27 Feb 1917. Isabella was the daughter of Robert Boles, a farmer.

2 Margaret Esther Morton born 21 Dec 1920 at Crappagh.
4 James Walter Morton born 6 Nov 1881 was with the army reserve in 1911 and living with his
brother in law Thomas Henry McCabe at Ballsbridge.
5 John James Morton born 6 Aug 1884 at Crappagh Co Monaghan.
6 Susan Anne Morton born 3 Apr 1889 at Crappagh, Co Monaghan living with her parents in
1911. She married James Harpur Mills on 25 Jul 1913 at Aghabog Church, Monaghan. James
was a motor engineer and the son of Thomas Mills, a farmer.
