Edmund Mooney born circa 1781 was a solicitor of 2 Henrietta Street, Dublin. He was in
partnership with his son Laurence. Eliza died 26.10.1831 at Henrietta Street. Edmund
lived at Brooklawn from 1838 and was appointed clerk to the Attorney General in 1850.
He died at his residence Ballyglass in Westmeath on 08.07.1867 and he was buried with is
son Edward at Glasnevin Probate to Laurence Mooney.
1 Edward C Mooney eldest son born circa 1818 was admitted Kings Inn. He died
19.05.1839 and is buried at Glasnevin.
2 Laurence Edmund Mooney second son born 06.06.1819 was educated in Dublin and
admitted Kings Inns. He married Jane Susanna Walsh at Mount Michael on 06.04.1848
(marriage registered in Rathfarnham church registers). Jane was the only daughter of
Michael Walsh of Mount Michael, Templeogue. He was in practice with his father at
Henrietta Street and later had offices at Westmoreland Street and Bachelors Walk. He
was solicitor to Patrick Colclough in the 1860s and also solicitor to Paul Cardinal Cullen.
They lived at Brooklawn from 1854 to 1862 and then moved to Alma Road, Monkstown.
Together with his brother William he was solicitor to the Collector of Rates. Laurence
emigrated to Australia circa 1871. Laurence died 26.06.1884 at Melbourne late of
Cootamundra.

5 Katherine Maria Mooney born 06.02.1855 at Brooklawn, Co Dublin baptised
at Blackrock.
6 Maria Josephine Mooney born 21 May 1856 baptised at Blackrock.
3 Judith Mooney born circa 1821 married Patrick Nolan of Leinster Mills, Kildare on
18.11.1845 at the Pro Cathedral, Dublin.
4 William Mooney baptised 17.08.1824 at Booterstown educated at Oscott Cottage and
admitted Kings Inns. He married Kate Merlehan elder daughter of Patrick Merlehan of
Martinstown, Westmeath on 05.02.1855 at the Roman Catholic Church, Castletowndevlin.
5 George Mooney born circa 1826 was educated at Oscott College, Warwickshire and
admitted Kings Inns in 1852.
6 Anna Maria Mooney baptised 17.08.1828 at Booterstown.
7 Teresa Mooney joined the sisters of Mercy in Baggot Street and was one of eight of nuns who
went to Sydney, Australia in 1859 to found a convent and school.
8 Eliza Mooney born circa 1831. She was living at Brooklawn, Mount Merrion Avenue
and married Michael Walsh of Newtown, Kildare on 03.05.1853 at St John’s Church, Blackrock.
