Michael Nolan born circa 1858 in Wexford to Brian and Margaret Nolan. He was a crier to a
judge living at Windsor Terrace when he married Mary Wilkes at St Andrew’s Church,
Westland Row on the 18 Feb 1895. Mary was living at Grattan terrace and was the daughter
of Joseph and Matilda Wilkes of England. In 1911 he is noted as a steward and living in a
house owned by Thomas Crozier of Avonmore. They were living at South Frederick Street in
1926, Michael was an unemployed court crier and Mary was working as a house keeper.
Michael died 11 May 1929 at Mercers Hospital, late of Frederick Street. His funeral Mass was
held at St Andrews, Westland Row and he is buried at Mount Jerome. It is thought that Mary
Ann died in 1954 in Kilmainham.
1 Michael Joseph Nolan born 27 Sep 1896 at Holles Street, Dublin, parents resident at
Armstrong Street, Harold’s Cross living with his mother in Darley Street in 1901 and with
his parents at Avonmore in 1911. He was living at South Frederick Street in 1916 and
was a commercial traveller. Michael died unmarried on 13 Jul 1936 at 88 Tyreconnell
Park, Inchicore and is buried at Mount Jerome. His sister Marjorie the informant.
2 Matilda Kathleen born 4 Aug 1899 at 11 Darley Street, Harold’s Cross baptised in
Rathmines. Matilda died of scalds from boiling water on 17 Nov 1900. A pan of water
was upset on the kitchen fire while Mary was in the scullery and she was brought to the
local doctor immediately; the coroner found for accidental death.
3 Brian Leonard Nolan born 3 Dec 1901 at Darley Street Dublin baptised in Rathmines died
1 Dec 1904 at Darley Street from croup.
4 James Vincent Nolan born 7 Feb 1904 at Darley Street died 29 Mar 1906 at Darley Street.
5 Marjorie Nora Nolan born 9 Feb 1908 at Armstrong Street in Dublin living with her parents
at Avonmore in 1911. She was a music teacher living with her parents at Frederick Street
South in 1926. She was living at 10 Partridge Terrace, Inchicore when she married James
Christopher Power of Bluebell Cottages at St Michael Church, Kilmainham on 27 Jan 1937.
James was a labourer and the son of James Power, a labourer. Marjorie died 13 Jul 1944 at
Chatham Street and is buried in Mount Jerome.
