John Frederick Meyers son of Humphry Meyers an apothecary of Waterford. He married Jane*.
John Frederick was a bookkeeper with the bank and died 26 Apr 1879 at 14 Main Street,
Blackrock. Jane died 17 May 1888 at 49 Williamstown, her daughter Jane Meyers of the same
address the informant.

2 John Charles Meyers born circa 1850. He was merchant living at 106 Rathgar Road
and married Lucinda Reardon on 21 Oct 1872 at Rathfarnham Church of Ireland.
Lucinda was living at 5 Rathgar Avenue and was the daughter of William Rearden, a
clerk. John had a number of houses in the Rathgar area and acted as a post office
receiver and sub post office keeper. He is variously described as a chandler, coal
merchant, general merchant. Furniture Removals and haulage contractors. In 1911
John and his wife identified as Christians of no denomination whereas their children
were variously Brethren, Presbyterian and Church of Ireland. The family were living
at Garville Terrace in Rathgar and six of their nine children had survived. By 1915
they were living in Casino in Milltown. John died 21 May 1927 at 19 Garfield Villas,
Garville Avenue. In 1929 the business was put into voluntary liquidation and the
premises, yards, storage facilities were put up for sale. Lucy died 18 Feb 1936 at 4
Garville Avenue.
1 Humphrey Meyers born 21 Jan 1874 at 106 Rathgar Road, a coal merchant in 1911
living with his parents. He died 29 April 1945 and was buried in Belfast.
2 John Charles (Jack) Meyers born 2 Jul 1875 at 106 Rathgar. Trooper Myers was killed
at Gauteng, South Africa on 2 Jan 1896 in the Jameson Raid. He is remembered on the
Sadf wall of remembrance, Voortrekker monument, Pretoria.
3 Anthony Nobel Meyers born 27 Apr 1877 at Brighton Square. He was a merchant
living at Garville Avenue and married Marion Helena (Nellie) Gibson on 9 Aug 1905.
Marion was living at Terenure Road and was the daughter of Edward Gibson, a
decorator. Anthony died 7 Sep 1953 at Springvale, Rathfarnham. Marian died
3 Feb 1954 at same place aged 72.

3 Anthony Meyers (twin) born 14 Mar 1909 at Marlboro Terrace Bray.

4 Belinda Annie (Linda) Meyers 13 Oct 1878 was a governess in 1901. She married
Thomas Edward Morton on 21 Oct 1908 at Rathfarnham Church. Thomas was a civil
servant working in the Registry of Deeds. He was living at Clonskeagh and the son of
Thomas Morton, a farmer. The family were living with the Meyers family in 1911.

5 Harry Deverell Meyers born 27 Apr 1880 at Brighton Square, a coal merchant in 1911
living with his parents. He enlisted and served with the Royal Army Service Corps. He
died unmarried from Pneumonia contracted while on active service on 30 Oct 1918 at
King George V Hospital (now St Bricin’s), Dublin and is buried at Mount Jerome.
6 Arthur Meyers born 20 Sep 1881 died 16 Nov 1881 at Garville Avenue.
7 Robert Maxwell Meyers born 18 Jan 1883 died 16 Feb 1887 at Garville Avenue.
8 Albert Charles Gordon (Gordon) Meyers born 21 Jan 1885 at Garville Avenue. He was
working as a bank clerk with Bank of Ireland in Cork in 1911. He was commissioned into
Royal Army Service Corps in February, 1915, promoted Captain in 1917. He was sent to
France in 1917 attached to 31st Divisional Train with which he served until demobilised.
He was transferred from Coleraine to Arklow Bank of Ireland in 1933. He died 18 Nov 1968
at Sallymount, Gorey.
9 Lucinda Eileen (Lucy) Meyers born 26 Feb 1893 at 1 Garville Avenue, Rathgar. She was
living at Casino, Milltown and married Andries Adrian Louis Albertyn on 14 Nov 1916 at
Taney Parish Church. Andries was a MD and the son of Andriens Adrian Louis Alberton, a
clergyman. They moved to South Africa.
1 Lucy Colleen Albertyn born 3 Jan 1922 at Stellenbosch, Ellisras, Transvaal, South
Africa. She married Gert Johannes Jurgens Watermeyer on 23 Sep 1944 at
Bloemfontein-Noord, Free State, South Africa.
* possibly the daughter of Anthony Deverell of Mountrath.
