George Meares married Isabella Fairbrother in 1746. Isabella was the daughter of Samuel
Fairbrother of Glasnevin. George was an attorney living at Hoey’s Court by 1748 and Jervis
Street by 1756. He put the lease on Collinstown Demesne up for sale in 1757. George was a
member of the forerunner of the Blackrock Association in 1777. George died circa 1778, his
executors his wife Isabella and William Fairbrother of Foxhall, Co Wicklow, his brother in law.
His will mentions his two daughters and his cousin Beresford Burston. After his death the
house and concerns at Kilmacud were to let, or the interest in the lease sold. It was described
as a small neat house with coach house, stables and out offices on 10 acres of meadow ground
and with two very good gardens. It was held on a lease of 49 years from March 1775.
Applications were to his wife at 4 Hume Street. It was advertised for auction along with the
household furniture in March 1779. Isabella died in Hume Street on 24 May 1793.
1 Isabella Meares eldest daughter born circa 1752 married John Drought in 1773. John
was the son of John Drought. They lived at Whigsborough, Kings County. Isabella died
10 Feb 1805 at Whigsborough.
1 Isabella Meares Drought married Robert James Ehraght at Whigsborough in 1794.
2 John Drought married Anne Perceval in Molesworth Street in 1805.
3 George Meares John Drought second son. He was of Willsborough, Co Wicklow when
he married Jane Acton in June 1805. Jane was the daughter of Thomas Acton of West
Acton. They lived at (Foxhall aka Glencarrig House, Glenealy, County Wicklow.
George died in 1844.
1 Rev John William Fairbrother Drought eldest son born in 1809. He married
Anna Maria Reynell in 1837. Anna was the daughter of Richard Reynell of
Killynon, Co Westmeath.
4 Susanna second daughter married Robert Lauder of Moyclare, King’s County in 1812.
2 Sarah Meares of the Parish of St Peter married Daniel Maunsell on 15 Feb 1779 (ML). Daniel
was an attorney and the son of Richard Maunsell of Limerick. They lived at Hume Street and
had at least twelve children. Daniel was living at 11 Merrion Square by 1813. Daniel of
Ballywilliam, Co Limerick and Merrion Square died aged 76 in February 1824 at Merrion
Square.
1 Isabella Meares Maunsell married Edward Smith in 1812.
2 Richard William Maunsell born 1783 died young.
3 George Meares Maunsell born circa 1785. He was a JP for Limerick married twice and
had at least nine children.
4 Daniel Maunsell born March 1787 at Hume Street died young.
5 John Maunsell born May 1788 at Hume Street. He was a lieutenant with the 23rd Native
Infantry, Bengal Establishment. He was killed in India on 22 Oct 1812.
6 William Maunsell born December 1789 at Sion Hill, Drumcondra.
7 Daniel Henry Maunsell born 17 Jul 1791 admitted Kings Inns. As second son he married
Louisa Jane Richardson at Seaford Church Co Down in June 1823. Louisa was the
daughter of John Richardson of Mount Panther, Co Down.
8 Francis Richard Maunsell born 27 Feb 1793 took Holy orders.
9 Edward Charles Maunsell born circa 1794 married Charlotte Jane Heming at Rathkeale
Church in December 1834. Charlotte was the second daughter of Charles Heming of
Corsham, England. Edward died in Euston Square London on 23 Oct 1857.
10 Robert Maunsell sixth son born circa 1795 admitted Kings Inns. He married Anne Lloyd in
September 1821 at St Peter’s Church. Ann was the eldest daughter of the late Rev John
Lloyd, Rev of New Inn, Co Tipperary.
11 Thomas Maunsell born circa 1797 joined the 15th Regiment. He married Alice Maunsell in
1 May 1834 at Ballywilliam, Limerick. Alice was the youngest daughter of the late Thomas
Frend Maunsell of Ballybrood House. Thomas later took Holy orders and they had at least
five children. He died at Ballynagaran House, Fintona in November 1857.
12 Horatio Maunsell was born on 21 Nov 1798 took Holy orders.
