Michael (Mick) McGuigan born circa 1845 son of Henry McGuigan. married Bridget Teague
on 27 Nov 1877 at Dromore Church. Michael was a farmer of Letteree and Bridget was the
daughter of Francis Teague a farmer from Letteree. They lived at Letteree, Dromore, Co
Tyrone. Michael died 25 Sep 1916 at Letteree.

3 John Charles McGuigan born 21 Aug 1882 Letteree, Dromore, Co Tyrone. John was
educated at Letteree National School and qualified as a teacher at St Patrick’s
Training College, Drumcondra. He worked at St Patrick’s boys NS for 6 years before
taking a job as technical teacher at Armagh Commercial School. He held a bi-lingual
certificate and a diploma for teaching the Irish language next worded as an Irish
teacher in the Diocesan Seminary for 2 years. In 1910 he won a scholarship to the
School of Economics and Political Science at the University of London. On his return
in 1913 he was offered a job at Meath Technical College but turned it down to
become principal of Armagh Technical College.
He married Constance Violet Mary Ievers on 21 Jul 1921 at St Andrew’s, Westland
Row. Constance was a teacher and the daughter of William Henry Ievers and Mary
Anne Carmody of Barrington Street, Limerick. She was the granddaughter of Robert
Holmes Ievers of Castle Ievers, Limerick. They lived at Avondale on Avoca Avenue
from 1929 to 1960. John was headmaster of the Parnell Square Technical Institute
and head of the School of Commerce, Dublin. They had a least two children and their
daughter Constance married Dermot O’Reilly-Hyland in 1948. Constance died at
Avondale, Avoca Avenue on 6 Jul 1960 aged 66 and John died on 7 Mar 1973 at the
Mater Hospital, late of Sutton and Idrone Terrace, Blackrock. Both are buried at
Deansgrange.
