Henry McClintock born circa 1783 married Elizabeth Melesina Fleury on 14 Dec 1809 in
Waterford. Elizabeth was the daughter of the Venerable George L Fleury, Archdeacon of
Waterford. Henry was an officer in the 3rd Dragoon Guards and later a collector of customs.
in Dundalk. Henry died 27 Feb 1843 at Dundalk. Elizabeth moved to Gardiner Street after
her husband died. She died 29 Jan 1853 aged 63 at Gardiner Street, Dublin.
1 Isabella Marion McClintock eldest daughter born circa 1812 married Thomas S
Battersby at Dundalk Church on 20 Sep 1838. Isabella, a widow secondly married
Edward Spencer Dix of Gardiner’s place on 11 Oct 1848 at St George’s Church, Dublin.
2 Louisa McClintock second daughter married Francis Hall Tipping on the 18 Sep 1832.
Francis was the second son of the late Francis Tippling of Bellurgan Park, Co Louth.
3 Emily Caroline McClintock third daughter married Captain Charles Henry Pages on
20 Jan 1840 at the Church of St Nicholas, Dublin. Charles was a captain in the Royal
Navy and the eldest son of the later Vice Admiral, the Honourable Sir Charles Paget,
GCH and he was also nephew to the Marquis of Anglesey.
Emily, a widow secondly married J Bellard Gardiner on 19 Jul 1848 at St Thomas’ Church,
Portsmouth. Bellard was with the 17th Regiment and was the eldest son of the late
Edward Gardiner of Mount Prospect, Co Cork.
4 Frederick Leopold McClintock born 1819 in Dundalk was an Artic explorer and became
a household name when he went in search of the fate of Sir John Franklin and the crew
of the ‘The Terror’ including Francis Rawden Moira Crozier. He was granted the Freedom
of the City of London and knighted in 1860. Captain Sir Frederick, RN, ADC to Queen
Victoria married Annette Elizabeth Dunlop on 12 Oct 1870 at Mellifont Church. Annette
was the second daughter of Robert Foster Dunlop and the Hon Mrs Dunlop of
Monasterboice House, Co Louth. Sir Frederick died 17 Nov 1907 at South Kensington,
Middlesex, probate to his widow Dame Annette who died in 1920.
1 Henry Foster McClintock born 1871 died in 1959.
2 John William Leopold McClintock born 1874. He was later a CB and vice admiral and
died in 1929.
3 Robert Singleton McClintock born 1876. He was later a colonel in the Royal Artillery and
died in 1967.
4 Anna Elizabeth McClintock born 1873 married Bernard Eyre Greenwell later 2nd Baron
Greenwell and 1902 and died in 1957.
5 Elizabeth Florence Mary (Bessie) McClintock born 1882 died unmarried on 3 May 1913.
5 Alfred Henry McClintock second son born 21 Oct 1821 in Dundalk was a medical doctor. He
married Frances Cuppaidge on 2 May 1848 at The Church of St Nicholas Collegiate Church,
Galway. Frances was the youngest daughter of the late George Cuppaidge of Newtownsmith,
Galway. Alfred was assistant master and later master at the Rotunda. He retired from the
Rotunda and was made a life governor. They moved to 21 Merrion Square. Arthur died at
Ferndale Rathmichael on 21 Oct 1881 on his sixtieth birthday late of 21 Merrion Square and is
buried at St George's cemetery, Drumcondra. He left 13k in personal estate and probate was
to his wife Frances. Frances moved to Willow Lodge on Booterstown Avenue and died on
4 Dec 1890 at Elgin Road.
1 Elizabeth Florence McClintock eldest child born 11 Feb 1849 at Gardiner Place baptised
at St George’s. Florence died at 21 Merrion Square on 9 May 1866.
2 Katherine Elizabeth McClintock born 3 Jun 1851 at Gardiner’s Place baptised at St Georges.
Elizabeth Katherine married Charles James Maxwell Lefroy om 14 Aug 1872 at St Stephen’s
Church, Dublin. Charles of Newton Villa, Buckland and of Itchell Manor Hampshire and
was a captain in the 14th Hussars.
3 Leopold Alfred McClintock born 7 Sep 1853 at Gardiner’s Place baptised at St George’s.
He married Harriett lice Price in Paris. He attained the rank of major in the Royal Artillery.
They were living in Devon with their two daughters in 1901 and Leopold died in 1933.
4 Frances Edith McClintock born 16 Feb 1856 at the Rotunda baptised at St Marys. Edith
Frances married Edmund F B Wilson on 16 Sep 1890. Edmund was an MD and the son of
Rev D Wilson, DD of Limerick.
5 James Frederick Foster (F F) McClintock younger son born 27 Mar 1859 at The Rotunda
where his father was working, baptised at St Mary’s Dublin. He was a land agent of 21
Merrion Square and lived at Netley from 1884 to 1888. He married Clara Elizabeth
Charlotte Adams on 1 Jun 1893 at St Stephen’s Church, Dublin. Clara was living at Bella
Vista Newcastle, Co Down and was the daughter of the late Rev Ambrose Going Adams of
Northlands, Co Cavan. They were living at Wellington Road in 1901 and living at Rath
House, Dardisrath, Termonfeckin, Louth from 1911 to 1918. James an estate agent died
in Dublin on 13 Nov 1920 late of St James’ Terrace, Malahide. Clara died a widow on
19 Feb 1951 at a nursing home on Dartry Road aged 78.
1 Melesina F McClintock 11 Oct 1894 at Mount Street. She married Ernest A Phipps
in 1917 at Guildford.
2 Clara Patricia McClintock born 27 Mar 1898 died 20 May 1890 at 5 Upper Mount
Street.
3 Geoffrey McClintock born 6 Apr 1900 at Wellington Road, Dublin joined the Royal
Navy.
4 Fanny McClintock born 8 May 1902 at 7 Wellington Road.
6 Caroline Florence McClintock youngest daughter born 13 Jan 1867 married W Longfield
Brady in 30 Oct 1891 at the Cathedral, St Helens. Longfield was with the 2nd York, and
Lancaster Regiment and was the son of Maizière Brady. He was later Sir William Longfield
Brady, 4th Baronet. Caroline died on 20 Jan 1927 at Leoville, Blackrock.
6 Rosamond Melesina McClinrock fourth daughter born circa 1824 in Co Louth married
Benjamin Wills Richardson on 18 Apr 1848 at St Georges. Benjamin was a surgeon of upper
Gardiner Street and the son of William Richardson, a barrister. Rosamond, a widow died as
last surviving daughter on 25 Jun 1911 at Prince Edward Terrace Blackrock, Dublin.
7 Florence Gertrude McClintock fifth daughter born September 1825 in Dundalk. She married
George Holmes Alloway at St George’s on 8 Dec 1847. George was a medical doctor and the
fifth son of the late William J Alloway of the Derries, Queen’s County. Florence died a widow
in Donnybrook in 1909.
8 Emma McClintock born circa 1831. She was living at 2 Gardiners Place and married Henry
Thomas Dix on 19 Dec 1854 at St George’s Church, Dublin. Henry was a solicitor and the son
of William Dix. Emma died in 1894.
9 Emily Anna Foster McClintock youngest daughter born circa 1833 in Dundalk. She married
George Crozier of Dublin on 9 Jul 1857 at St George’s Church. George was the son of William
Crozier and Jane Ledlie. George, a solicitor died at Temple Street in 1872. Emily died a
widow at Temple Street on 13 Oct 1901 and is buried at St George’s.
10 Charles Fortescue McClintock youngest son born circa 1836 in County Louth. He was a
civil servant living at Hardwicke Place and married Mary Anne Horace on 8 Aug 1871 at St
Thomas’ Church, Dublin. Mary was the daughter of James Horace, a farmer. He died
19 Dec 1907 at Ulverton Cottage, Dalkey.
