John Mays born circa 1819 at Frimley, Suffolk son of John (Royal Artillery). He was 29 and
married Julia Little on 31.07.18448 at St Peter Port, Guernsey. Julia was aged 25 years and
the daughter of William Little of the Parish. In 1861 the family was living at the Martello
Tower, Felixtowe, Woodbridge, Suffolk.
1 John William Mays born 1851 Guernsey, Channel Islands married Elizabeth Murphy
from Wexford in 1879 at Marylebone. In 1881 Elizabeth with son John Frederick and
mother-in-law Julia were living at Cambridge. In 1901 John was a butler and Elizabeth
a cook were working for Lady Emily Arnott at Ardmore House, Roebuck.
1 John Frederick Mays born circa 1880 drowned aged 2 years and 2 months circa
December 1882.
2 Emma Mary Mays born 25.09.1852 in Guernsey married John Newby Howe a baker
son of John Newby Howe on 05.04.1874 at the Parish Church, Stepney. Witnesses
John William May and Mary Ann May.
3 Mary Ann Mays born 28.02.1855 in Guernsey married Walter William Thurston in
1877 at Woodbridge.
4 Martha Mays born 04.03.1857 at Frimley married Henry Phillips, a soldier of Langley
Lane son of Joseph Phillips on 30.05.1880 at the Parish Church of St Anne’s, South
Lambert, Surrey.
5 Margaret Mays baptised 09.08.1863 at Felixstowe.
