Thomas Oliver Plunkett born circa 1809 son of Thomas Oliver Plunkett, 11th Baron Louth and
Margaret Plunkett. He married Anna Maria Roche on 29 Nov 1830 at St George’s, Hanover
Square, London and previously by Prince Abbe de Broglie with the rites of the Roman Catholic
Church. Anna Maria was the youngest daughter of Philip Roche and Hon Anna Maria Plunkett.
Her sister Margaret Randalina Roche was married to Thomas Barnewall, 16th Baron
Trimleston. Thomas was appointed DL of County Louth in 1840. He died on 26 Jun 1849 at
Brighton. His body was repatriated and brought back to Dundalk to be buried at Tallanstown.
Baroness Louth moved from place to place after the death of her husband. She travelled mainly
with her sisters and daughters. She was at Trimleston House in 1863 before moving to her
sister’s home at 24 Park Lane. Dowager Baroness Louth died at Louth Hall, Ardee on
18 Jan 1878. She left 50k in personal estate, her executor was her son Thomas Oliver Westenra
Plunkett. Her jewellery was sold at Christies after her death and fetched nearly 2.5k.
1 Hon Randal Percy Otway Plunkett born 28 Aug 1832 at Worton Hall, Richmond. He was
educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire. He became the 13th Baron Louth on the
death of his father in 1849. He was with the 79th Highlanders. He married Anna Maria
MacGeough Bond on 4 Oct 1867. Anna Maria was the second daughter of Walter
MacGeough Bond and Anne Smyth of Drumsill, Co Armagh. Anna Maria died age 24 at the
Hotel Royal, Dieppe on 27 Oct 1868 a few days after the birth of her son. Randal took her
body aboard his yacht Pilgrim and sailed home through appalling weather conditions.
Anna Maria was interred in a newly erected vault on the Louth Hall demesne.
1 Randal Pilgrim Ralph Plunkett born 24 Sep 1868. He became the 14th Baron Louth on
the death of his father in 1883. He married three times and died 28 Oct 1941 at the
Salt Hill Hotel, Monkstown. He is buried at Deansgrange.
He secondly married Elizabeth Lily Black on 14 July 1877. Elizabeth was the daughter of John
Black. He died 19 Jul 1883 at Louth Hall.
2 Hon Augusta Anna Margaret Plunkett born 18 Jul 1836 at Richmond House, Twickenham.
She married John Douglas Johnstone on 20 Jan 1869 by special licence at Louth Hall. John
was the only son of the late Major General Johnstone, CB of Snow Hill, Co Fermanagh.
Augusta died a widow on 27 Aug 1907 at Blackwater Road, Eastbourne.
1 Anna Maria Johnstone baptised on 20 Nov 1869 at Tallonstown died 8 Jan 1874 at
Fermoy.
2 Randalina Augusta Catherine Johnstone born 19 Jan 1872 at Louth Hall. She was
resident at Snow Hill, Co Fermanagh and married Simon William Maddock on
2 Nov 1901 at St Peter’s Dublin.
3 John Douglas Johnstone born 21 Mar 1874 at Fermoy. He joined the Leinster Regiment
and served in the South African wars. He was killed in action in 1914.
3 Hon Thomas Oliver Westenra Plunkett born 8 Apr 1838 at Dunstable Villa, Richmond. He
attained the rank of Captain in the 1st Foot and was divisional magistrate for Cork. He
married Clara Ann Kirkby at St James’ on 24 Jul 1862 in London. Clare was the daughter of John
Kirby. Clara died 22 Jul 1867 at Gibraltar aged 22.
1 Thomas Oliver Clarence Plunkett born 15 Jul 1867 at Gibraltar baptised at Gibraltar
and Tallanstown. He emigrated to Montana.
He secondly married Caroline Alicia Victoria Musters on 20 Jun 1874 at 68 Stephen’s Green,
Dublin. Caroline was the daughter of Colonel Henry Musters and Margaret Domvile Achmuty.
Thomas went blind with a brain tumour and died 6 Dec 1889 at Cork.
4 Hon Emelina Louisa Plunkett died an infant on 24 May 1841 at Park Lane.
5 Hon Algernon Edward Tollemache Plunkett born April 1841 at Richmond, Surrey. As youngest
son he died from water on the brain in September 1842.
6 Hon Algernon Richard Hartland Plunkett born 14 Jan 1843 at Louth Hall. He died unmarried
on 24 Nov 1873 at Louth House. He left 4k in personal, probate to his mother.
7 Hon Adelaide Constance Plunkett born 3 Oct 1844 at Louth Hall. She was badly burned when
her dress caught fire in November 1858 but survived. She died 19 Jul 1866 at Louth Hall.
8 Hon Randalina Anna Maria Louisa Plunkett born posthumously on 15 Mar 1850 at Louth Hall.
She married Thomas Arthur Farrell 20 Aug 1884. Thomas was the son of Thomas Farrell.
Thomas died on 29 Dec 1898.
She secondly married Francis Arthur Farrell on 21 Feb 1900. Francis was the son of John Farrell.
They were living at Lower Glenageary Road in 1911. Randalina died 6 Feb 1932 at Merrion
Square.
