Bartholomew Lloyd born 5 Feb 1772 in Co Wicklow son of Humphrey Lloyd. He was taken
under the protection of his uncle Rev John Lloyd of Ferns when his father died. He graduated
Trinity, took Holy orders and was appointed a fellow. He married Elinor McLoughlin in July
1799. He was appointed Erasmus Smith's Professor of Mathematics in 1813 and Erasmus
Smith's Professor of Natural and Experimental Philosophy in 1823. He was appointed
Archbishop King’s Lecturer in 1823 and 1827 and Provost of Trinity College in 1831. In 1835
he was president of the Royal Irish Academy. Bartholomew died on 24 Nov 1837 and was
buried at Trinity College vaults. Eleanor died at 51 Leeson Street on 30 Apr 1854 and is buried
at Mount Jerome.
1 Humphrey Lloyd eldest son born 16 April 1800 graduated Trinity College. He was a
physicist and academic who served as the 30th Provost of Trinity College Dublin from
1867. He died in the provost’s house, Dublin on 17 Jan 1881 and was buried at Mount
Jerome.
2 Eleanor Lloyd eldest daughter born circa 1801 died a spinster on 13 Jan 1881 at
Brighton.
3 Harriett Lloyd born circa 1803 married Rev Maurice Hime of Roebuck in May 1829.
4 Bartholomew Clifford Lloyd second son baptised at St Anne’s in 1805. He graduated
Trinity, admitted Kings Inns and was called to the Irish Bar in 1830. He married Caroline
Hamilton Brooke on 21 Sep 1844 at the British Ambassador’s Chapel in Paris, France.
Caroline was the only daughter of William Brooke, HM Counsel. They lived at Dundrum
Manor House from 1860 to 1862 and at 14 St Stephen’s Green in 1863. Caroline died
aged 43 on 7 Jan 1864 at 7 Dargan Terrace, Bray.
1 Clifford Bartholomew Lloyd born 18.08.1845 at 28 Upper Pembroke Street, Dublin
married Edith Emily Margaret FitzHerbert daughter of Thomas FitzHerbert of Baron
Hill, Dalkey on 07.10.1896 at Holy Trinity Church, Killiney. Clifford and his family
lived at Victoria Castle, Killiney.
1 Beatrice Anna Caroline Isabella Lloyd married Leslie Tufnell Peacocke son of
Peter Leslie Peacocke on 7 May 1891 at Holy Trinity Church, Killiney. The
marriage was dissolved by an act of Parliament on 15 Jul 1897 and Beatrice
married Eardley Wilmot Brooke on 24 Nov 1901 at Holy Trinity Church,
Killiney.
2 Wilmot Humphrey Clifford Lloyd only son born circa 1880 married Kathleen
Mary Sullivan only child of William Sullivan, Magistrate, Bishopscourt, Navan
on 19 Aug 1914 at Ardbraccan Church, Navan.
2 William Chetwode Lloyd born 13 Feb 1846 in Dublin. He married Catherine Dalton
Garnett in 1889 and they had three sons who all joined the army. He died in
Devon on 11 Jun 1909. Catherine died in 1914.
3 Humphrey Wilmot Lloyd third son born 28 Feb 1848 at 28 Upper Pembroke Street
baptised at St Peters on 9 Apr 1848. He applied to become a barrister in 1884. He
married Frances Katherine Jane Graham on 16 Aug 1892 at St Patrick’s Hove.
Frances was the only child of Colonel John Graham, HEICS. He died 2 Oct 1908 at
‘Laughton’, Ballybrack. A memorial window at Moyliscar, Co Westmeath, and a
reredos at Killiney Church designed by R Caulfeild Orpen was erected in his
memory by his wife. Frances moved to Canada after his death.

4 Constance Eleanor Lloyd born at 28 Upper Pembroke Steet baptised at St Peter’s
on 8 Dec 1850 living at 18, Montpelier Crescent, Brighton in 1891 with her aunt.
5 Arthur Lloyd born 31 Jul 1854 at Upper Pembroke Street died an infant.
6 Arthur Brooke Lloyd born at 32 Upper Pembroke Street baptised at St Peters on
2 Mar 1856. He was an unmarried barrister living at Gateshead in 1911 and died
in 1927.
7 Florence Caroline Lloyd born at Upper Pembroke Street baptised at St Peter’s on
30 Aug 1857 living at 18, Montpelier Crescent, Brighton with her aunt. She died
unmarried at Hove Sussex in 1940.
8 Edith Catherine Lloyd infant daughter died 26 Jun 1859.
9 Frederick Charles Lloyd youngest son born at Manor House, Dundrum in October
1860 baptised at Taney on 18 Nov 1860. He was educated at Haileybury College.
He was with the Lincolnshire Regiment and married Millicent Garnett on 7 Aug 1889
at St Patrick’s Church. Millicent was the younger daughter of Thomas Garnett of
Furze Hill Lodge, Brighton. He fought in the Boer War and in WW1 and was wounded
at Gallipoli. He attained the rank of brigadier general in 1915 and was appointed a
CB. He died in 1957.
1 Clifford Humphrey Lloyd born 11 Jul 1890 at Grantham, Lincolnshire educated
at Cheltenham and Woolwich College. He joined the Royal Field Engineers in
1910. He fought during WW1 was wounded in 1914 and awarded the MC. He
was living Easttergle Boundary Road, Newbury in 1939.
2 Vera Millicent Lloyd born 1891 baptised at Grantham, Lincolnshire married
Frederick Alfred Pile in 1914.
10 Caroline Alice Elizabeth Lloyd, youngest daughter born circa 1862 married Anson
Schomberg on 30 Aug 1887 at St Peter’s Church, Brighton. Anson was a
commander in the RN, HMS Boscwen and the second son of the late Admiral
Herbert Schomberg.
Bartholomew was living at Dargan Terrace, Bray and secondly married Anna Maria Taylor on
29 Oct 1868 at St Peter’s Church, Dublin. Anna was living at Upper Fitzwilliam Street and was
the daughter of Major Sackville Brownlow Taylor of the 67th Regiment and of Moone, Kildare.
Bartholomew died 28 Apr 1872 at Crew, Cheshire after a short illness, late of Bray. He was
chairman of the Quarter Sessions and was en route to the south of England. His will was
proved by William Brooke of Taney and Humphrey Wilmot Lloyd. Anna died at Monkstown
on 20 Jun 1904 aged 86.
5 Anne Lloyd third daughter born circa 1805 died at Roebuck on 30 Nov 1838. She is buried at
Mount Jerome.
6 Robert Clifford Lloyd third son born circa 1806 in Dublin. He graduated Trinity and joined the
76th Regiment. He was living at Roebuck and married Anna Henrietta Jane (Annie) Savage
on 5 Jun 1839 at St Peter’s Church, Dublin. Anna was the only child of the late George Savage
a captain in HM 13th Light Dragoon and of Ballilow, Co Down. Robert attained the rank of
Colonel and died 15 Jan 1863 at Avignon, France late of Rangoon, Burmah and No 91 Lower
Baggot Street.
1 Grace Eleanor Cottenham Lloyd eldest daughter married Maurice Cross on 21 Apr 1860
at Madras.
2 Charles Dalton Clifford Lloyd baptised at Portsea on 3 Jul 1844 was educated at the
Royal Military College, Sandhurst. He joined the police service in Burmah. He married
Isabel Henrietta Browne on 30 Apr 1867 at St Paul’s, Wilton Place. Knightsbridge.
Isabel was the only daughter of Capt Henry Sabine Browne of the Rifle Brigade. He
was called to the bar in 1875 and was a magistrate in Belfast. He was British consul
in Constantinople and died in 7 Jan 1891 at Erzurum. They had no issue.
3 Wilfred Neville Lloyd born circa 1855 was educated at the Royal Military Academy,
Woolwich. He entered the Royal Horse Artillery in 1876 and served during the Zulu
War and the Burmah Campaign. He was a temporary RM in Ireland in 1882 in Lloyd's
division, having been decorated and mentioned in dispatches for active service in
Africa. He married Ellen Margaret Percy Cust on 23 Jul 1891 at St Michael Le Belfrey,
York. He died in February 1935.
4 Emily Lily Lloyd youngest daughter married Ferdinand Beauclerk on 9 Feb 1872
at St Paul’s Church, Valetta, Malta. Ferdinand was a lieutenant in the Royal
Engineers and the eldest son of Charles Beauclerk.
7 Elizabeth Lloyd born circa 1808. She died a spinster on 3 Nov 1891 at the Observatory,
Cambridge late of 18 Montpelier crescent, Brighton.
8 John Frederick Lloyd born circa 1810 graduated Trinity College and took Holy orders.
He was rector of Wold Newton and died 8 Sep 1875.
9 Margaret Davenport Lloyd youngest daughter married Richard Verschoyle on
13 Jul 1841 at St Peter’s Church, Dublin. Richard was the son of the late John
Verschoyle of Stillorgan House.
10 Maria Lloyd youngest daughter born circa 1813 died a spinster on 21 Dec 1882 at
Brighton.
