Miguel (Michael) Theobald Langton born 1782 in Paris son of Miguel Langton of Cadiz and his
second wife, Maria Dillon of Wexford*. His father died in Cadiz in July 1810. He was of 14 South
Parade in Bath and married May Ryan on 21.11.1820 at Bath. May was the eldest daughter
of Jeremiah Henry and Margaret Ryan of Waterford. Michael’s mother Mary died 08.03.1821
aged 81 at 14 South Parade. Michael was on the managing committee of the Bath Saving’s Bank,
treasurer of the Bath Society, one of the proprietors and chairman of the North Parade Bridge,
on the select committee of Bath United Hospital, a founder of the Bath Literary and Scientific
Institution and secretary of the "Champs de Elysee Palace Travellers Club in Paris at the Hôtel de
la Païva. Mary father’s died in Bath in 1838 and her mother died in 1843 at South Parade.
Michael died on 07.02.1844 at Rockville, Merrion Avenue, Booterstown on 07.02.1844. It is
unclear as to why Michael died here, the house was being leased by the Vance family from 1843
who perhaps had sub let it to him. Michael willed that £1,300 of his property should be invested
and the interest given to the Poor House at Waterford which had been founded by his ancestors.
In 1847, the household furniture at 14 South Parade was sold and the house was for sale in 1849.
Mary died at 6 Southwick Place, Hyde Park London late of Danganmore on 22.01.1864 and left
£1500 in personal estate.
1 Mary Frances Langton baptised 22.03.1822 in Bath. Mary married Peter Grehan
16.08.1845 at St Andrew’s Roman Catholic Church, Dublin. Peter was the son of Stephen
Grehan of Rutland Square and Gresham Terrace, Kingstown.
2 Margaret Caroline Felicia Langton baptised 22.05.1824 in Bath. Margaret became a Sister
of Charity and died 11.10.1856 at St Vincent’s Hospital, Dublin.
3 Josephine Jane Simeona Langton 3rd daughter born February 1826 at South Parade, Bath
(in religion Sister Mary Regis) died on 19.12.1870 aged 44 years at the Ursuline Convent,
Cork.
4 Henry Michael Faustinus Langton eldest son born circa 1829. He was resident at
Danganmore, Kilkenny in 1863 and a captain in the Louth Rifles Militia. He served as High
Sheriff of Kilkenny in 1871. He died of fever on 08.07.1872 aged 43 years at Albano near
Rome.
5 Theobald Arthur Lambert Langton second son born 17.09.1830 at Bath. He attended the
Benedictine College, Downside and Stonyhurst College and graduated University of London.
He joined the Society of Jesus. Father Langton died of yellow fever on 08.08.1866 aged 36
years at New Amsterdam, Berbice, British Guiana.
6 Eleanora Mary Susanna Langton born circa 1833 late of 14 South Parade, Bath died
unmarried on 28.07.1847 at 23 Rue de l’Orangerie, Versailles, France. She left 3k in
personal estate.
7 Eliza Mary Langton born 04.10.1835 at South Parade, Bath.
8 Catherine Wilhelmina Pauline Langton born 20.12.1837 at Bath died 15.12.1838 aged 11
months at same place.
9 Francis Albert Romuald Romauld Langton third son born 07.02.1840 at South Parade, Bath
married Margaret Cecilia Tobin 2nd daughter of late John Michael Tobin of Montreal, Canada
on 08.04.1869 at the Oratory, Brompton. They were living at Onslow Square, Kensington
with their two children in 1881. Francis was secretary to the Postmaster general and a
member of St Vincent de Paul. Margaret died on 18.05.1902 aged 57 years and Frank died
on 01.09.1917 aged 77 years at Thornton, Wilbury Road, Hove.
