William Kenney a clerk, son of William Kenney, a farmer and his wife Ann of Ballagown
House Carlow. He was living at Mary Street, Dublin and married Mary Josephine Moran at
the Pro Cathedral on 4 Nov 1869. Mary was the daughter of Bartholomew and Margaret
Moran of Mary Street. Her father was a house painter of Gardiner Street. William worked
for Todd Burns & Co for 34 years and died 5 Nov 1888 at 32 South Frederick Street. He
was buried in Glasnevin. He left £325 and his widow was his executrix. Mary was a
tailoress and in 1893 she severed her connection with Brown Thomas & Co and worked on
her own account from 34 South Frederick Street.
1 William Daniel Joseph Kenney born 5 May 1872 at 34 South Frederick Street was a
clerk of 34 South Frederick Street married Georgina (Lollie) Doyle on 26 Jun 1899 at
University Church, Stephen’s Green. Georgina was a tailoress and the eldest
surviving daughter of the late John Doyle of Dublin City. William was later a
costumier and milliner. They were living at Howth by 1911 and three of their four
children had survived. They moved to Roebuck Hall in 1922. Georgina died
21 Sep 1932 at Roebuck Hall aged 60 and was buried at Glasnevin. William died
26 Dec 1951 at ‘Lorraine’ Newtownpark Avenue, Blackrock. The informant given as
K Kenney, son*. He funeral mass was held at St Teresa’s, Clarendon Street and he
was buried with his wife.

2 Angelo Joseph Kenney born 1902 at 33 Wicklow Street was a pupil at
Castleknock in 1911.
3 Muriel May Kenny born 20 May 1904 at Bloomfield Avenue was a pupil at
Castleknock in 1911. She died unmarried and was buried at Glasnevin.
4 Rupert Reginald Kenny born 29 Sep 1905 at 18 Wicklow Street. He was an
unmarried motor engineer living at 84 Chichele Road, Cricklewood,
Willesden in 1939. He was an engineer with the merchant Navy and died
16 Feb 1942 on war service. He is remembered on the Tower Hill Memorial,
London. Probate was to his father.
2 Angelo Michael Kenney born 20 May 1876 at 34 South Frederick Street was a
sales man with Clery & Co and married Mary Minna O’Brien on 24 Aug 1904 at
University Church Stephen’s Green. Mary was living at 2 Cuffe Street and was a
cutter/costumier, the daughter of James O’Brien, a book maker. By 1911 they
were living at Howth. With C Martin he took over Lawlor, Briscoe and Co, furniture
sellers of Lower Ormond Quay in 1916. He was choir director at St Mary’s
Haddington Road. He died 27 Jun 1940 at 4 Trafalgar Terrace Monkstown. His
funeral was held at St Teresa’s, Clarendon Street and he was buried at Glasnevin.
Minna died on 6 Oct 1954 at Trafalgar Terrace and was buried with her husband.
1 Kevin O’Brien Kenney only son born 15 Oct 1905 at Bloomfield Avenue was
married Judith Butler on 28 Jan 1949 at St Patrick’s, Monkstown. Judith was
the daughter of Colonel Butler of Callan, Co Kilkenny.
3 Charles Leo Frederick Kenney, third son born 28 Apr 1878 at 34 South Frederick
Street. He was a tenor and a regular competitor at the Feis Ceoil. He was a book-
keeper and married Mary Etta (Sis) Walsh on 1 Jul 1907 at St Joseph’s, Berkley
Street, Dublin. Sis was the only daughter of the late Thomas Walsh, 33 Salisbury
Street, Belfast. They were living at Susanville Road, Drumcondra in 1911. Charles
was secretary to a wine merchants and died at 118 Clonliffe Road on 10 Sep 1934.
He was buried at Glasnevin. Mary died 11 Nov 1970 at 118 Clonliffe Road and was
buried with her husband.
1 Nora Kenney only daughter born 29 Jan 1913 at Summerville Road. She was
living at Clonliffe Road and married Robert O’Neil on 30 Aug 1948 at St
Agatha’s Church. Robert was the son of TP O’Neill of Bank Place, Co Tipperary.
2 William Thomas Kenney born 5 Jul 1916 at Summerville Road.
4 Josephine Kenney only daughter born 5 Feb 1880 at 32 South Frederick Street. She
was a dressmaker and married Michael Gibney on 27 Jun 1906 at St Andrew’s
Westland Row. Michael was a hardware merchant and the son of John Gibney, a
tobacconist. Michael died 26 Dec 1915 aged 31. Josephine died 1 Apr 1963 at 333
Howth Road, Raheny and was buried at Glasnevin.
1 Maureen Josephine Gibney born 20 Aug 1907 at 102 Great Brunswick Street.
She was living at Trafalgar Terrace, Monkstown and married Charles O’Connor
on 4 Mar 1935 at Monkstown Church.
5 Andrew Kenney became a Carmelite priest and officiated at his brother Angelo’s
funeral in 1940.
