Thomas Francis Kennedy born 11.011.1788 son of Thomas Kennedy of Dunure. He was
educated at Harrow and University of Edinburgh. was called to the Bar in 1811. He entered
parliament in 1818 as the representative for Ayre Burgha in the Whig interest and retired in
1834. He married Sophia Romilly on 13.07.1820. Sophia was the only daughter of Sir
Samuel Romilly. Thomas came to Ireland in 1837 and they lived at Woodview from 1846 to
1850. He was paymaster of Civil service and was appointed Commissioner of Woods, Forests
and Land Revenue in 1850. He was dismissed in 1855 by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
The Rt Hon Thomas F Kennedy died 04.04.1879 at Dalquharran Castle and Sophia died same
place on 09.10.1879.
1 Francis Thomas Romilly Kennedy only son born 05.05.1842 at Merrion Square baptised
29.06.1842 at St Peter’s Church married Eliza Barbara Campbell 3rd daughter of
Lieutenant-General John Campbell on 03.06.1868 at Edinburgh. The family were living
in Hastings in 1881. Francis died on 02.02.1892 aged 49 years at 52 Warrior Square, St
Leonards.
1 Eliza Georgina Kennedy born 24.04.1869 Edinburgh. Eliza died unmarried on
19.02.1945 of Halsdown House, Exmount, Devonshire.
2 Sophia Romilly Kennedy born 30.01.1871 Edinburgh. Sophia died on 10.04.1921
at Bournemouth. Probate to sister Eliza.
3 Thomas Frances Kennedy eldest son born 22.02.1872 died 10.07.1896 aged 24
years at Dunelm, St Leonards-on-Sea.
4 John Campbell Kennedy born 15.11.1873. John joined the Royal Navy and served
from 1889 to 1898. John married Adelaide Louisa Maxwell 3rd daughter of
Francis Maxwell of Gritbon on 15.03.1900 at St Baldred’s, North Berwick. John died
21.11.1934 at Dalquharran Castle.
5 Francis Edward Kennedy born circa 1875 died on 18.10.1891 aged 15 years at 52
Warrior Square, St Leonards.
6 Frances Lorne Kennedy born 1877 youngest daughter married Captain John
Buchanan MacFarlan of the Royal Garrison Artillery on 29.10.1901 at All Souls
Church, Marylebone.
7 William Henry Kennedy last surviving son died on 09.10.1936 at 2 Carrick Avenue,
Ayr.
8 Samuel Romilly Kennedy born circa 1880 died on 10.06.1905 aged 25 years at
Steyning.
9 Selina Mary Kennedy baptised Hastings 30.05.1885 infant daughter died on
25.09.1885 aged 5½ months at Pulborough, Sussex.
