Webb family of Fern Bank, Dundrum
John Webb born 20 Nov 1821 at Causnagh, Armagh son of Richard Webb and Eliza Allen. He
was a Quaker merchant of 20 Temple Lane. He married Louisa Adamson on 25 Jan 1849 in
Manchester. Louisa died at Castle Avenue Clontarf 23 Dec 1854 and was buried in Cork Street
on Christmas Day.
He was living at Clontarf when he secondly married Hannah Abigail Webb on 17 Feb 1857 at
the Friends Meeting House in Sycamore Abbey. Hannah was living at Clontarf and was the
daughter of John Webb, formerly a linen draper and his wife Mary. They lived at Fern Bank,
Dundrum from 1860 to 1873 with John Webb (1779-1873) a merchant of Temple Lane and Fern
Bank, Dundrum. Hannah died 24 Nov 1877 at Bray and is buried at Temple Hill. John was
living at Ardeen in Palmerston Road by 1878. John, a widower was living with his son Theodore
in 1901. John, a wholesale grocer died at Eastbourne, Glenageary on 13 Nov 1904 and left 10k
in personal estate, his daughter in law Annie, the informant.
1 Lewis Henry Webb born 17 Dec 1857 at Clontarf. He was a provisions merchant and
married Alicia Henshaw in 1894. The lived at Grove House, Milltown where Louis died in
1941 and Alicia died in 1947.
1 Louis Wilfred Webb born 28 Sep 1903 at Ailesbury Road. He was one of the
executors of his uncle Theodore's will in 1937. He married Violet Eleanor
Skackleton on 17 Apr 1941 at St Ann's Church Dublin. Violet was the daughter of
Ebenezer Shackleton of Moone, Co Kildare. Louis was a partner in Hayes and Sons,
Solicitors. They moved to Ballawley Park, Dundrum in 1950 where Wilfred died in
1969. Violet died at Beech Park, Cabinteely in 1975.
2 John Edmund Webb born 11 Jul 1859 at Clontarf. He was a tea agent when he married
Ellen Winifred Webb in 1898. Ellen died in 1906, no issue found. John lived with his
brother Lewis after her death and died a widower at Milltown in 1944.
3 Theodore Richard Webb born 9 Jul 1861 at Fern Bank. He was a stockbroker living at
Killiney when he married Ann Labrey on 29 Mar 1888 at Eustace Street. Annie was the
daughter of John Labrey, a tea merchant trading as Peake Bros and Winch. She was the
ward of Quaker Liberal statesman John Bright MP. Her father had moved to Dublin circa
1880 and was the foreman of the Grand Jury in the Phoenix Park murder trial in 1881. In
1889 the partnership of Goodbody Allen & Webb was dissolved and Theodore operated
as Goodbody and Webb, Stockbrokers of 50 Dame Street with Jonathan Goodbody junior.
They were living at Ardeen, Palmerston Park, Rathmines in 1884 and at Marlborough
Road, Glasthule in 1901. Theodore was on a committee of the Society of Friends to house
Belgian refugees in 1914. They moved to Bournemouth in 1919. Theodore died on
14 Apr 1937 and left 48k in personal estate. Probate to his older brothers John and Louis
and his nephew Louis. Annie died in August 1939 at ‘Glenmalure’, Browning Avenue,
Boscombe aged 77.

2 Dorothy Maud Webb born 25 Oct 1891 at Eastbourne, Glenageary died same place
on 24 Dec 1903.
3 John Leslie Webb born 22 Sep 1894 at Glenageary died 21 Aug 1911 at Howth.
