John Vance born circa 1785. He was of Fermoy, Co Cork and married Eliza Beale on
15.08.1820. Eliza was the daughter of late George Beale of Drumgold, Co Wexford. They
lived at Rochville, Mount Merrion Avenue from 1843 to 1850 and also at Merrion Square.
John died 05.12.1857 at 3 Merrion Square Dublin and left 12k in personal estate. Elizabeth
died 10.03.1871 at Eblana Lodge, Kingstown, both are buried at Mount Jerome.
1 William James Vance eldest son born 31.01.1823 was educated Trinity at Trinity
College. He was a barrister-at-law and the officer in charge of the Crown Lands
Records in Melbourne and married Mary Ann Watson in 1862. He died a widower in
an accident on 28.02.1888 in Melbourne, Australia. He was on board a tram and was
thrown onto the road by a dray carrying timber which came in contact with the tram.
He is buried at Melbourne General Cemetery.
1 Josephine Rosa Vance married Rudolph John Frederick Steel on the 23.09. 1885
at Brighton Street, Newmarket. Rudolph was the son of R J F Steel, Victoria
Railways. They lived in Flemington in 1888. Josephine died in Victoria on
05.01.1927
2 William James Vance a clerk in the Bank of Victoria in 1888.
2 Richard Vance 2nd son born circa 1828 in Dublin graduated Trinity and took Holy orders.
He was curate at Rathnew, Co Wicklow, later curate of St Judes, West Derby and was
appointed incumbent of Ravenfield, Yorkshire in 1860. He died a bachelor on 28.02.1871
aged 43 year at Eblana Lodge, Kingstown and is buried at Mount Jerome. He left 9k in
personal estate.
3 John Vance, LRCSI lived at Eblana Lodge from 1862 until 1876 and then moved to 12 Regent
Street. He died 17.03.1890 at Nice, France formerly of Merrion Square and Eblana Lodge,
Kingstown late of 12 Regent Street, London and is buried at Mount Jerome. He left 14k in
personal estate.
