John Read born circa 1845 son of William Read ex-President of the Incorporated Law Society
and Anna Maria Daniell. He was a solicitor of Grosvenor Terrace, Rathmines when he
married Georgina Mary Baldwin of Kingstown at Monkstown Church on 31.08.1873 at
Monkstown Church. Georgina was the youngest daughter of George James Baldwin. The
family lived at Claremount from 1900 to 1935. John died 18.07.1926 at Claremount,
Carrickmines and is buried at Mount Jerome. Georgina died 07.05.1935 at Claremount and
was buried with her husband.
1 Anna Maria Read baptised on 05.08.1874 of 127 Rathgar at Rathmines Parish Church
and died 14.04.1875 at Albany cottage, Rathgar. Informant Bessie Baldwin.
2 Marian Georgina Read born circa 1878 died of phthisis on 30.12.1891 aged 13 years at
Claremount, Carrickmines and is buried at Mount Jerome.
3 William Read born 05.07.1880 at 127 Rathgar Road of Claremount, Carrickmines. William
admitted a solicitor of the High Court of Justice in 1903. He was a boarder at 11 Victoria
Avenue, Dublin in 1911 with Caroline Blackmore.
4 Bessie Mary Read born circa 1881 living with her grandmother Anna Maria Read in 1901
at 32 Ulverton Road, Dalkey.
5 Helena Emily Read born 26.08.1882 at 121 Rathgar Road. Helena living at Claremount in
1901 and 1911 died unmarried on 29.03.1941 aged 58 years at Palmerstown House late
of Claremount.
6 John O’Brien Read born 02.09.1889 at 20 Garville Avenue, Rathmines living at Claremount
in 1901 and 1911. John died unmarried on 30.01.1943 aged 53 years at Tivoli Nursing
Home late of Clarebeg, Foxrock.
7 Winifred Alice Read born circa 1892. She was living at Claremount when she married Francis
Chatterton Ormsby of Ballynamote, Carrickmines on 01.08.1914 at Tullow Parish Church.
Francis was the headmaster of Ranelagh School, Athlone and the son of Robert Daly Ormsby.
Francis died on 12.03.1919 aged 37 years at Ballynamote, Carrickmines of Mount Saint
Benedicts, Gorey.
1 Brian Daly Ormsby born 07.09.1917 at The Ranelagh, Athlone. Brian, a medical
student died of meningitis aged 17 years on 04.05.1933 at Claremount.
