John Low born circa 1840 son of Rev John Low and Caroline Irvine. His father was vicar
of Galtrim for 20 years before moving to Dunshaughlin in 1838 and died in 1855. John
married Emily Tessier La Nauze on 28.08.1872 at Booterstown Church. Emily was the
daughter of Henry La Nauze of and Elizabeth Eugenia Curtis of Summerville. John Low was
a stockbroker and member of the Dublin Stock Exchange. They were living at 41 Clarinda
Park in 1878 when he administered his father’s estate. He traded as Johnston & Low of 22
Westmoreland Street and later as Messrs Low and Wilkinson of Foster’s Place. They lived at
Lynwood from 1891 to 1908. John was people’s churchwarden for Taney in 1904/6. He was
on the committee of the Taney Flower Show in 1907. They were at Willowbank, Dundrum
in 1910 to 1913 and at Dundrum Castle by 1916. Emily died suddenly from heart failure on
31.08.1917 aged 84 years at Dundrum Castle, her husband John the informant and her
executor. She left 1k in personal estate. John died at a London nursing home on
6 Aug 1923 and left 4k in personal estate in England.
