John Jenkinson born circa 1782 married Mary and died 31 May 1864 at Rathdrum. His
daughter Mary Anne Murray the informant. He is buried at Glenealy. Mary died 2 Nov 1866
at Rathdrum.
1 Mary Anne Jenkinson married Thomas Murray on 29 Jan 1849 at Glenealy Church.
Thomas was the son of Joseph Murray, a farmer.
2 Edward Jenkinson born circa 1830 son of John Jenkinson of Cronroe. He married
widow Jane Casey at Glenealy Church on 24 Sep 1868. Jane was living at Glasnarget
and was the daughter of Michael Ruddock. William Ruddock, a witness. In 1885
Edward found a baby’s body in the marl hole at Cronroe, the mother of the baby was
charged with infanticide and Edward had to appear in to court to give evidence. Jane
died 7 Jul 1907 at Glenealy; Susan Jenkinson the informant. She is buried at Glenealy.
Edward died 19 Jan 1908 at The Hall, Rathdrum; Thomas Ruddock the informant. He is
buried with his wife.
1 Susan Jane Jenkinson born 6 Feb 1870 at Cronroe, near Ashford, Co Wicklow. She
lived and worked in Cronroe Manor in 1901 as a domestic servant to the Casement
family of Cronroe Manor (now Bel-Air). In 1907 she donated a quilt she had
crocheted as a prize draw in aid of the Wicklow Infirmary. She was a housemaid at
Woodley Park House to the Verschoyle family in 1911. She died 13 Nov 1951 at St
Colman’s Hospital, Rathdrum. Her funeral was held in Rathdrum Church and she
is buried at Glenealy with her parents.
3 Margaret Jenkinson born circa 1837 in Wicklow. She was living at Cronroe and married
William Ruddock on 8 Oct 1856 at Rathdrum parish church. William a wood ranger/
forester for the Earl of Fitzwilliam, living at Ballgannon, Rathdrum and was the son of
Michael Ruddock. In later years William won numerous prizes for his vegetable at local
horticultural shows and was the caretaker of the Rathdrum waterworks in 1895.
Margaret died in 1909 at Rathdrum and William died in 1913 at Rathdrum.
1 William E Ruddock was a court keeper of Rathdrum which involved wanking long
distances to deliver summonses.
2 Richard Ruddock born 28 Dec 1864 at Glasnarget. He was living at Avon Lodge,
Rathdrum and married Katie Sullivan in 1895. Kathleen was from Kerry and was
the daughter of John Sullivan. He was a wood ranger/gamekeeper for the Earl of
Fitzwilliam. They live at Stump of the Castle, Rathdrum and had six children.
3 Ellen Ruddock born circa 1874 died unmarried in 1948.
4 Thomas Ruddock born circa 1876 died a bachelor at Rathdrum in 1958.
