James Stopford born circa 1730 married Nancy Wray on 17 Feb 1759 at St Ann’s, Dublin. He
was the son of James Stopford, the Bishop of Cloyne. His brother the Rev Joseph of
Charleville was married to Angel Wray. Dr James Stopford, DD was rector of Glanworth and
died on 19 Jun 1780 at Sandville, Cork.
1 Anne Stopford married Rev Christmas Paul Wallis in 1782. They lived at Renny near
Castletownroche.
2 James Butler Stopford eldest son born circa 1761 son of James Stopford and Ann
(Nancy) Wray/Rey. He graduated Trinity and was living at 15 South Anne Street in 1793.
He married Elizabeth Lombard on 24 Jul 1794. Elizabeth was the daughter of the Rev
Edmund Lombard of Lombardstown, Co Cork and his wife Elizabeth Trydall. They lived
at Danesfort, Co Cork which James sold the interest in the house in 1811 to his brother
in law Captain Edmond Hunt. They moved to Merrion Street in Dublin and had a country
retreat at Hollyville, Newtown-Park from 1835 to 1837. They had no children but adopted
their niece, Mary Hunt, daughter of Ann Hunt nee Lombard. James died in October 1840
in Merrion Street, Dublin and is buried at Mount Jerome. Elizabeth died a 11 Upper
Merrion Street on 11 Apr 1857 and is buried with her husband. Mary died on 22 Jul 1876
at Elm Grove, Terenure aged 79 and is buried with her adoptive parents.

4 Henry Stopford mentioned in his father's will of 1778.
5 Thomas Stopford mentioned in his father's will of 1778.
6 Catherine Stopford died unmarried on 20 Dec 1837.
7 Edward Stopford graduated Trinity and took Holy orders. He married Catherine
Reddish Browne and was later Bishop of Meath.
8 Elizabeth Stopford married Rev William Dunn at Castetownroche on 13 Apr 1793.
Thomas was the curate of Charleville.
