James Gill born in Scotland son of James Gill a coachman. He was a groom at the Royal
Hospital, Kilmainham when he married Marianne Fox in 1872. Marianne was living at
Kingstown and was the daughter of John Fox, a land steward. James was a coachman at
Dalguise between 1882 and 1887. By 1889 the family lived in Edinburgh. James was a stable
man of 35 Lauriston Street, Edinburgh in 1922. Mary Ann died 15.06.1922 at the Royal
Asylum, Edinburgh. James worked for John Croall & Sons, undertakers, coach and cab
proprietors and coach builders, of Castle Terrace, Edinburgh for many years. He died
24.08.1936 at Western General Hospital Late of Lauriston Street and is buried at Morningside
Cemetery.
