Ireland's memorials 1914-1918
Ireland's memorials 1914-1918 is an eight-volume set which commemorates all those who died in Irish regiments during the First World War. Illustrated by Harry Clarke it was commissioned in 1919 by the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland and overseen by Lady Caroline Arnott.
Ireland's Memorial Records, 1914-1918: being the names of Irishmen who fell in the Great European War, 1914-1918 was compiled by the Committee of the Irish National War Memorial; with decorative borders by Harry Clarke, privately printed for the Committee of the Irish National War Memorial by Maunsel and Roberts in 1923. 100 copies were printed with the cost defrayed by the interest accrued on the 42k raised for the actual memorial. They list 49,647 individuals, including their name, rank, regiment, date of death, and place of birth. They were printed in Dublin on Irish paper (Maunsel and Roberts) and bound in Belfast linen by William Pender. The books contain 3152 pages, t.e.g. Orig. oatmeal buckram backed grey boards, with printed paper labels on spine. Some were presented in a custom-built cabinet.
