William Foley born circa 1852 at Corofin eldest son of Patrick Foley. He married Ellen O’Connor
daughter of Daniel O’Connor, a teacher in the Roman Catholic Parish of St Mary’s Cathedral,
Cork on 25.06.1878. William was the manager of the Munster and Leinster Bank, Nenagh for
20 years before being promoted to manager in Tipperary. Ellen died at Bank House, Killadysert
on 21.04.1884.
1 Ita/Ida Mary Foley born 21.05.1880 at Upper Jane Mount. Ida was a governess in 1911
working for the Martin family of Craigmore, Blackrock. Ida married Henry Stamer Moylan
son of Daniel Moylan on 31.07.1911 at the Roman Catholic Church of the Immaculate Lady
of Refuge, Rathmines. Witnesses Thomas Moylan and Florence Foley. In 1926 they were
living in Dalkey with their two children and Henry was a civil servant in the Department of
Public Health. Henry had a very successful career in the Civil Service and died 29.11.1967
aged 86 at Sandycove. Ida died 18.09.1971 at Foxrock.
William, a widower now living at Nenagh married secondly Veronica Foley of Corraclare at the
Roman Catholic Chapel of Cooraclare, Kilrush on 11.01.1887. Veronica was the 3rd daughter of
the late William Foley, MD. William died 21.03.1908 at 19 Lower Mount Street and is buried at
Glasnevin. In 1911 Veronica and her family lived at 49 Grosvenor Square, Rathmines. Veronica
died a widow at Harold’s Cross Hospice on 08.04.1938 aged 73.
2 Agnes Foley born 07.01.1888 at Barrack Steet, Nenagh. Agnes of 7 Kenilworth Park,
Terenure married Wasfel Henry Clarke Briscoe a sub manager in the National Bank of
Ballymahon, Longford and son of Wasfeil Henry Briscoe on 14.01.1922 at the Roman
Catholic Church at Terenure. Witness Moiren Foley.
3 Richard Joseph Foley born 21.03.1889 at Barrack Steet, Nenagh. Richard a bank clerk died
of phthisis on 30.09.1918 aged 29 years at Harold’s Cross Hospice late of 7 Kenilworth Park.
4 Veronica Foley born 03.11.1891 at Barrack Steet, Nenagh. Veronica died on 24.06.1910
following a brief illness.
5 Florence Mary Foley born 21.10.1892 at Barrack Steet, Nenagh. Florence was still living
with her mother in 1926.
6 Gertrude Mary Foley born 02.12.1893 at Barrack Steet, Nenagh. Gertrude of 2 Kenilworth
Park married Arthur Talbot Brady, a bank manager and son of Edward Talbot Brady on
29.04.1920 at the Roman Catholic Church at Terenure. Witness Florence Mary Foley.
7 Genevieve Mary Foley born 20.05.1895 at Barrack Steet, Nenagh. Genevieve married Cyril
Byrne, a bank clerk and son of John G Byrne on 25.04.1923 at the Roman Catholic Church

8 William Stanislaus Foley born 28.10.1896 at Barrack Steet, Nenagh. In 1911 William aged
14 years was a student in Blackrock College on the Rock Road and in 1925 he travelled via
Liverpool to Canada.
9 Patrick Arthur Foley born 30.04.1900 at Barrack Steet, Nenagh. Patrick a banker married
Margaret Foley, a chemist of Killarney daughter of Robert Doyle Foley on 22.09.1925 at the
Roman Catholic Church of Kingstown.
10 Moiren Foley born 03.09.1902 at Barrack Street, Nenagh. Moiren was still living with her
mother in 1926.
11 Fergus Donal Foley born 10.02.1904 at Barrack Steet, Nenagh. In 1930 Fergus travelled to
the USA via Liverpool.
12 Dermot Kevin Foley born 08.07.1906 at Main Street, Tipperary. In 1927 Dermot travelled
to New York via Liverpool.
