Charles Hughes born circa 1826. He married Martha Dalton on 8 Jan 1857 at the Church of
the Assumption, Dalkey. Martha was the youngest daughter of the late Robert Alexander
Dalton, law stationer of 38 Upper Ormond Quay and his wife Martha. Charles died
12 Jul 1867. Martha a widow living at Westland Row in 1901. She lived at Rokeby from circa
1905. Martha died 1 Feb 1919 at Rokeby and was buried at Glasnevin.
1 James Francis Hughes born 20 Apr 1858 at Gardiner Street baptised at the Pro
Cathedral. He was a first class clerk in the master office Supreme Court living with
his mother in 1911. He was chief clerk in the High Courts (retired) and he died a
bachelor on 21 Mar 1929 aged 69 at Rokeby. His sister in law Catherine the informant
and he was buried at Glasnevin.
2 Claire Hughes died at Nantes, France in 1893.
3 Martha Maria Josephine Hughes second daughter born 6 Mar 1861 at 90 Lower
Gardiner Street baptised at the Pro Cathedral died 29 Jul 1876 at Vannes, France.
4 Charles Joseph Francis Hughes born 16 Sep 1863 at Durham-place Kingstown. He
was an MD and was assistant master at the Coombe Hospital and was retired by 1925.
He married Catherine Mary Clotilde Scully on 9 Feb 1915 at Booterstown Church.
Catherine was the daughter of John Scully of Priory Lodge. Charles died 24 Feb 1927 at
Rokeby and was buried at Glasnevin.
