Henry Higinbotham married Jane Verner otherwise Dobbin on 04.02.1777 at St Michan’s
Church. His brother Andrew of The Treasury married Mary Battersby on 16.11.1787 at Parish
of Kilallon, Meath. Mary was the daughter of John Battersby Andrew and died 04.01.1810.
Henry of Linen Hall died 05.10.1789, his will was dated 09.09.1789. Jane of Gardiner Place
died at Janeville, Stillorgan on 31.05.1828 aged 71 and is buried at St Michan’s.
1 Andrew Higinbotham baptised 02.12.1777 at St John’s son of Henry and Jane died
08.07.1854 aged 76 years and is buried at St Michan’s.
2 Thomas Higinbotham of the Treasury, Dublin Castle married Jane Benning youngest
daughter of Rev C Benning of Kilroot, near Carrickfergus circa 12.09.1800. Thomas died
suddenly circa 19.02.1826 in 14 Mountjoy Square East. Jane, a widow died 1832 of
Gardiner’s Place.
1 Anne Higinbotham eldest daughter born circa 1805 married James Martin only
son of Robert Martin of Ross House, Galway on 20.12.1824 at St George’s
Church.
2 Jane Higinbotham youngest daughter born 1809 married Rev Henry Martin on
08.07.1830 at St Anne’s Church, Dublin.
3 Henry Higinbotham born 1784 of 4 Mountjoy Square was an agent to the Belfast
Commercial Bank and traded in tea. He married Sarah Wilson a lady with a large fortune
only sister of Thomas Wilson on 25.05.1812 at St George’s Parish Church. He became
bankrupt by the panic of 1825 losing an estimated £100,000 overnight. Henry died
27.07.1851 aged 67 years in Exeter and Sarah died on 18.03.1861 at her residence Lota in
Bray.
1 Henry Higinbotham eldest son baptised 1813 at St George’s Church educated at
Trinity College. He was admitted as a barrister of Church View, Dublin afft. father
E1834.
2 Rev Joseph Wilson Higinbotham born 1815 a curate at Collon Church died
unmarried on 22.10.1872 aged 57 years at 7 Margaret Place, North Circular Road.
3 Rosanna 1817 living in Devon in 1851 with her father and in Hastings in 1861.
Rosanna died unmarried in 1869 aged 52 years in Hastings.
4 Thomas Higinbotham 3rd son baptised 07.02.1819 at St George’s Church and
educated at Castle Dawson School. Thomas was a Civil Engineer for British
Railways. He moved to Australia in 1857 and joined his brother George. Thomas
died unmarried on 05.09.1880 aged 61 years at St Kilda Street, West Brighton,
Victoria.
5 Jane Higinbotham baptised 03.12.1820 at St George’s Church. Jane was living with
her mother Sarah in 1861 at Lota.
6 William Higinbotham baptised 05.01.1823 at St George’s Church last surviving
child of late Henry died unmarried on 18.02.1915 aged 94 years at Hampstead,
Glasnevin and is buried at Mount Jerome.
7 Rev Robert Higinbotham baptised 19.07.1824 at St George’s Church a junior curate
in Derry Cathedral married Josephine Mary Jones youngest daughter of late
Lieutenant Colonel Jones, 12th Regiment and of Fahan House, Donegal on 29.11.1855
at Glendermott Church. Robert died of typhus fever circa 16.10.1857.
8 George 6th son born 19.04.1826 baptised 23.05.1826 at St George’s Church. George
was a journalist, politician and Chief Justice in Victoria, Australia married Margaret
Foreman in 1854. George died on 31.12.1892.
4 Charlotte Higinbotham born 1785 died 21.05.1845 aged 60 years buried at St Michan’s.
5 Emily Higinbotham youngest daughter born 1791 died 26.01.1808 aged 17 years after
a tedious and painful illness in Gardiner’s Place.
