James Harrison married Catherine (Kate) Fagan on 17 Feb 1839 at St Andrew’s Westland
Row. He was a woollen merchant initially at Queen Street and later at Ushers Quay. They
lived at Montpelier Manor from 1857 to 1886. He died 8 Jun 1886 at Montpelier Manor,
Monkstown. He left 26k in personal estate and was buried at Westland Row vaults. He
left 1500 pounds to his wife for distribution to charities of her choosing which included
£400 to St John the Baptist Church in Blackrock and £200 to St Michael’s Hospital in
Kingstown. Kate died 23 Sep 1898 at 19 Northbrook Road, Ranelagh late of 6 South
Circular Road. She left 14K in personal estate and was buried with her husband.

2 Henry Joseph Harrison born circa 1843 joined the army and attained the rank of
captain. He married Caroline Georgina from Scotland circa 1875 and they lived
at Northbrook Road, Ranelagh and later at St Kevin’s Park, Dartry. They identified
as Roman Catholic in 1901 but in 1911 refused to state religion on the census.
Henry died at 8 Cross Avenue on 3 Mar 1927. Caroline died 22 Dec 1930 at Cross
Avenue aged 74. Both are buried at Glasnevin.
1 Henry Melville (Harry) Harrison eldest son born circa 1876 in India
became a physician. He was the TB physician for Dublin Corporation. He
was living at the South Circular Road in 1897. He died unmarried on
15 May 1948 at the Meath Hospital late of 70 Rathmines Road and was
buried at Glasnevin.
2 James Alexander Harrison second son born circa 1878 in England was a
commercial clerk in 1911. He died unmarried at 8 Cross avenue on
10 May 1954. His funeral was held at the Church of the Assumption in
Booterstown and he was buried at Glasnevin.
3 Cyril Alexander Lionel Montague Harrison born circa 1879 in England
studied science and died unmarried from TB on 26 Aug 1904 at Eileen,
Dartry Road. He was buried at Glasnevin.
4 Percy Ernest Harrison born circa 1880 in England became a physician. He
died unmarried on 15 Sep 1959 at Castlewood Avenue. He was buried at
Glasnevin.
5 Florence Mary Harrison born circa 1882 in England died unmarried in 1974
and was buried at Glasnevin.
6 Blanche May Harrison born 1885 in England died unmarried on 7 Dec 1972
at 8 Cross Avenue and was buried at Glasnevin.
3 James Malachy Harrison second son born circa 1855. He married Elizabeth (Lizzie)
Wooloughan on 29 Nov 1884 at St Audeon, High Street by special dispensation from
Rome. Lizzie was the second daughter of the late Captain Wooloughan of Usher
Street. James was a woollen merchant of 2 Usher’s Street. He was bankrupt in 1895
and the court was told that he had left the county for New York, however he was still
in business at Usher’s Street the following year. He died aged 46 on 25 Aug 1901 at 2
Tobernea Terrace, Seapoint and left 3K in personal estate. He was buried at Glasnevin.
Elizabeth was living with her sister Margaret in 1911.
4 Edward Harrison youngest son born 20 Dec 1857 at Montpelier Manor. He
married Charlotte Mary Jones at Denbigh early 1896. He died at Denbigh on
11 Apr 1896 and was buried at St Andrew’s vaults.
