NAME Failte/Failthe/Gortanore
AREA LOCATION Brighton Road
MAP LOCATION OSI map of 1898-1913 place it in the townland of Foxrock and it is
annotated as Failthe & Gortanore respectively.
GENERAL Originally called Failte, the name changed to Gortanore after 1914.
Gortanore is a detached family residence built circa 1895 in the Arts and Crafts style and
possibly designed by Richard Orpen. It is situated in a sylvian setting with 2.8 acres of
mature grounds with south facing gardens.
YEAR BUILT circa 1895
VALUATION In 1921 the valuation was 42 pounds and in the 1901 census it is
noted as having 13 rooms occupied by the family.
