Joseph Glennon born circa 1829 in Dublin. He was a Blackrock Town Commissioner (TC)
and lived at Ashmount, Rock Road (Booterstown Strand) from 1868. From 1890 he was
living at Glena on Booterstown Strand) Rock Road, a house probably built on the site of
Ashmount. He was a single retired tea planter and married Evelyn Maud (Maud)
Parminter in April 1891 at Cheltenham. Evelyn was the daughter of John Douglas
Parminter, Paymaster in Chief, Royal Navy service and Emma Clara Laughter. Evelyn was
nearly 40 years his junior. Joseph died 1 May 1899 at Glena. He left 23K in personal
estate, his wife Evelyn the informant and his executor. They had no children.
Evelyn secondly married Patrick Joseph (P J) Brady on 5 Sep 1900 at Booterstown Church
and continued to live at Glena. Patrick was a solicitor of Andrew's Street and the eldest
son of James Brady, a grocer of Idrone Terrace, Blackrock and Mary Tereasa Brady nee
Brady. Patrick was a member of the Blackrock Urban District Council and was an Irish
nationalist MP for the St Stephen’s Green ward from 1910 to 1918. He was President of
the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland in 1921 and served as a member of the advisory
committee set up to frame the new courts system and Free State judiciary in 1922. He
was a senator of the Irish Free State from 1927/8. He was also a director of the Hibernian
Bank and of the Irish Great Southern Railways, and a member of the St Vincent de Paul
Society. Evelyn died 11 Jan 1931 and was buried at Glasnevin. Patrick died at Glena on
20 May 1943. His funeral Mass was at the Church of the Assumption in Booterstown and
he was buried at Glasnevin. His funeral was attended by An Taoiseach and Mrs de Valera.
He left 25k in personal estate in Ireland and 14k in Britain. They had no children.
