GENERAL A villa style granite and redbrick double fronted, one storey over
basement house. It has a unusual corner tower with conical roof. It has six bedrooms and
five reception rooms and covers 5382 sq ft over its two levels. The old stables at the rear
of the property were turned into parking ports. It sports a plaque to John Count
McCormack unveiled by the American Ambassador to Ireland at a ceremony which de
Valera attended in 1966.
YEAR BUILT circa 1889
VALUATION As Ashmount it had a valuation of £24 in 1878 and as Glena in
1894 the valuation was 75 pounds. In the 1911 census it is noted
as having 16 rooms occupied by the family.
