Michael Joseph Gallagher born 6 Sep 1866 in Killala, Co Mayo son of Richard Gallagher, a
farmer and Maria Conway. He married Annie Christina Duffy on 3 Apr 1894 at St Joseph’s,
Berkeley Road, Dublin. Michael was a shop assistant and Annie was living at 15 Innisfallen
Parade and was the daughter of John Duffy, a cooper. In 1901 they were living at Innisfallen
Parade and by 1907 they were living at St Joseph’s Place. Michael was an upholsterer/
shopman in house furnishing. Michael died 11 May 1941 at Arran Road, Drumcondra.
Annie died 5 Mar 1951 at 21 Arran Road and was buried with her husband.

2 Michael J Gallagher eldest surviving son born 6 May 1895 at Kirwan Street Cottages,
Stoneybatter. He was educated at O’Connell Schools. He was a boy clerk in the inland
revenue by the age of 15. He married Eileen Lowth on 19 Jul 1920 at the Church of the
Visitation, Fairview. Michael was a civil servant living at Leo Avenue Eileen was living
at Gracepark Cottage and was the daughter of Laurence Lowth a retired port official.
Michael was a founder member and secretary of the Garda Benevolent Fund and an
early member of the Military Pensions Board. He served on the Inland European
Fisheries Trust, the Salmon Research Foundation and the Foyle Fisheries Commission.
Michael was chairman of the Inland Fisheries Trust in 1956 and was assistant secretary
of the Dept of Fisheries when he retired in 1961. Eileen died at Clonliffe Road on
30 Jun 1956 and was buried at Glasnevin. Michael died in May 1974 at Ben Edair Villa,
Sutton and was buried with his wife.
1 Vincent Brendan Paul Gallagher eldest son born 28 Oct 1921 at the Rotunda
Hospital, his parents living at Gracepark Villas, Richmond Road. He was an
architect and trained with the Alfred Jones & Stephen Kelly Practice. He married
Olive Veronica McEvoy on 24 Sep 1947 at Church of the Sacred Heart,
Donnybrook. Olive was the daughter of the late Edward J McEvoy, a dentist of
Belmont Avenue and his wife Julia Byrne. He went into practice on his own and
initially had premises at 76 Dame Street. He transferred his practice to 4
Merrion Square in 1952. He designed a variety of modern Irish buildings and
renovated and reconfigured others and worked all over the county. He was the
architect for the Boom Boom Ballroom in Belfast, the Church of Our Lady of
Dolours in Glasnevin, the church on UCD’s Campus, Beaumont Primary School
and the Retreat House at Balgriffin. He was also architect to SuperQuinn and
designed their stores, including those at Ballinteer and Blackrock. In 1983 he
was appointed Supreme Knight of Columbanus.

name Padraig and attended his father's funeral in 1941.
5 Hugh Edward Gallagher born 12 Mar 1902 at Innisfallen Parade. He was an engineer
and married Mary Ellen Lane on 4 Jul 1925 at St Agatha's Church, Dublin. Mary was
the daughter of James Lane, a labourer.
6 Eileen Gallagher born 1 Oct 1903 at 61 St Joseph’s Place. She married George Ernest
Overy of Leo Avenue in 1927 at Berkeley Road Church.
7 Una Gallagher born 11 Jan 1906 at 61 St Joseph’s Place attended her father's funeral in
1941.
8 William Dermott Gallagher born 30 Oct 1907 at 61 St Joseph’s Place. He married Maire
Leavey in 1949 at St Columba’s Church, Iona Road. He also used the name Liam and
attended his father's funeral in 1941.
9 Kevin Gallagher born 20 Jun 1909 at 61 St Joseph’s Place.
10 Catherine Gallagher born 2 Sep 1911 at 61 St Joseph’s Place died 22 Sep 1911.
11 Norah Gallagher born 12 Mar 1913 at 61 St Joseph’s Place. She was a servant living at
Arran Road, and married Francis C Gallagher on 3 Sep 1940 at Corpus Christ Chapel,
Drumcondra. Francis was a plumber of Cabra Road and the son of the late Thomas
Gallagher, a plumber.
