Frederick William Watkins born 10 Oct 1882 at Ballinabarna. He was the son of Richard
Watkins, a prize winning Cattle breeder/farmer of Ballinabarna, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford
and his second wife Ellen Moon. Frederick was a book-keeper of 12 Cabra Park when he
married Sophia Carr on 1 Jul 1908 at Merrion Hall. Sophia was of 6 Ashfield Avenue,
Ranelagh was the daughter of the late George H Carr, late of the 7th Hussars and his wife
Mary Ann Moody from Booterstown. Sophia was a radiography nurse and a member of the
Merrion Hall Brethren. Frederick was a bookkeeper in a timber merchants and later an
accountant and company secretary. They lived at Ashton Park from 1931 to 1938 and
Frederick was at this time a dairy proprietor. They rented out a flat and a bungalow on the
site. Frederick died from cancer on 4 Feb 1938 at Ashton Park, Monkstown just three days
after his older brother John died from cancer at Ballinabarna. Sophia died 26 Jan 1949 at
Silchester Road, Dun Laoghaire.
1 Dorothy Gwendoline Watkins eldest daughter born 1 Apr 1910 at 60 Hollybank
Avenue, Ranelagh. She married Reginald Vincent Squire, a builder on 9 Jul 1935 at
Merrion Hall, Lower Merrion Street. Reginald was the son of George Squire of Glenaul,
a builder of Royal Terrace, Kingstown and his wife Elizabeth Jeffery.
2 Helen Mabel Watkins born 4 Apr 1915 at 60 Hollybank Avenue, Ranelagh. She was
unmarried in 1949 when she acted as bridesmaid for her sister Eileen.
3 Eileen Hilda Mary Watkins born 29 May 1920 at 60 Hollybank Avenue, Ranelagh. She
was living at Myrtle Park, Dun Laoghaire when she married Robert Ormsby Hardy
Matheson on 14 Sep 1949 at Merrion Hall, Dublin. Robert was a company director and
living at Beaumont, Blackrock and the son of Robert Nathaniel Matheson, a solicitor.
