Francis Bagot born circa 1856 in Ireland. He was a landowner living in Buenos Aires and he
and his family returned to Ireland regularly. They lived at Yapton, Monkstown from 1925
where it died on 23 Dec 1929. Mary Ann and her two unmarried daughters lived at Yapton
until 1932. Mary Ann, widow of Francis Bagot died at the Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina
on 31 Oct 1953 and is buried at the English cemetery.
1 Maria Ana Bagot born circa 1898 in Argentina travelled to Ireland regularly with her
parents and lived at Yapton from 1925 until 1932. She died unmarried at Ciudad de
Buenos Aires, Argentina in September 1969 and was buried on the same day as her
sister Catalina at the English Cemetery in Buenos Aires.
2 Brigida Maria (Lelia) Bagot, second daughter baptised at San Juan Evangelista, La Boca,
Comuna 4 in Buenos Aires. She travelled with her parents to Ireland regularly and
lived at Yapton in 1925 when she married Patrick Terence McArdle at Monkstown RC
Church on 2 Jun 1925 and they had one daughter. Patrick born in 1883 in Anglesey,
Wales was the son of Patrick McArdle, a constable, later a JP living at Rutland Square,
and Margaret Hughes, a barmaid. Patrick was the master of the National Maternity
Hospital from 1924 to 1931 and was a major force in purchasing additional buildings
for the hospital and the building of the all electric new hospital at Holles Street. They
lived at 27 Merrion Square and their country residence was Herbertstown House,
Dunboyne in 1932/3. Lelia living at Talbot Lodge in Blackrock was awarded alimony in
1940 pending a divorce petition. Patrick took his own life on 23 Dec 1946 at 27 Merrion
Square (Carbon Monoxide poisoning from coal gas). He left 6.5k in personal estate in
Ireland and is buried at Glasnevin. Probate of personal estate in England was granted
to his sister Mary Keogh. His brother Monsignor Joseph McArdle was parish priest at
Fairview, Dublin.
3 Catalina Manuela Bagot born 1905 in Argentina travelled to Ireland regularly with her
parents and lived at Yapton from 1925 until 1932. She died unmarried at Ciudad de
Buenos Aires, Argentina in September 1969 and was buried on the same day as her
sister Maria at the English Cemetery in Buenos Aires.
