David Fennell married Maria. He was a pawnbroker of 4 Meath Street and died in Meath
Street, Dublin in October 1830.
1 Terence Fennell baptised 04.08.1803 at St Nicholas. He was living at Merrion Avenue
and married Jane Elizabeth Hughes on 2.01.1838 at St Michan’s. Jane was the eldest
daughter of the late Francis Hughes of Dublin city. Terence was a pawnbroker of 108
Capel Street and later of 6 Talbot Street. The family home was 152 Rathgar Road.
Terence died 20.02.1861 at 44 Blessington Street and is buried at Glasnevin. He left
4K in personal estate, his brother Patrick his executor. Jane Eliza died 30.01.1863 aged
51 and is buried with her husband.
1 Mary Jane Fennell only daughter born at Gardiner Street on 21.01.1839. She
married Richard Byrne on 31.01.1866 at the Church of the Three Patrons,
Rathmines. Richard was the son of John Byrne of Knockany, Co Limerick.
2 Terence Fennell born circa 1844 acted as executor to his uncle Patrick and was
also devised the business and premises at Denzille Street. However, he went
bankrupt in 1873 and was unable to carry out the terms of the will and was
taken to court by his cousin Teresa Hall.
3 James Fennell mentioned in the court case of 1874-1877.
2 Patrick Fennell baptised at St Nicholas in May 1807. He was a pawnbroker of 16
Denzille Street and 4 Denzille Lane. He was resident at Carrickmines Castle from 1849
and married Catherine Russell (born circa 1819) on 20.05.1864 at Little Bray Roman
Catholic Church. Catherine was the daughter of Thos Russell. Patrick died 09.01.1866
at Claremount and is buried at Glasnevin. He left 4k in personal estate, his nephew
Terence his executor. He left £20 to Rev Lynch for the poor of St Peter’s parish and £20
to Rev Flanagan for the poor of Cabinteely.
3 David Fennell baptised in May 1807 at St Nicolas. He was living at Meath Street and
married Teresa Byrne at Denzille Street in May 1833. Teresa was the fifth daughter of
the late Patrick Byrne of Dublin. David was a clerk and died 3.07.1858 at Sandymount
Avenue. He left £1500 in personal estate, his brother Patrick his executor.
1 Teresa Fennell born circa 1850 in Dublin city. She was a newspaper reporter and
married John Hall on 16.10.1873 at Fairview Church. John was a newspaper
reporter and the son of John Hall, a pawnbroker. Teresa and her husband
challenged the terms of Patrick’s will in 1874 but failed. By 1911 they had nine
children of whom three survived and were living in Rathgar. Teresa died in 1929
and John died in 1931, both are buried at Glasnevin.
