Edward Denis Williams born circa 1807. He and his older brother Robert worked for James
Egan initially but by 1841 they were silk manufacturers and mercers of 34 Merchants Quay
and lived at Laburnum Lodge, on Back Lane and Edward was a Poor Law Guardian.
Edward married Ellen Cavanagh on 01.06.1851 at St James’ Church, Dublin. Witnesses
Robert Williams and Josephine Cavanagh. Ellen was the only daughter of late Patrick
Cavanagh of Rye Vale, Kildare. His brother moved to Chestnut Lodge, Booterstown circa
1854 where he died a bachelor in 1873. In 1875 Edward was charged with destroying the
draft will of the late James Egan, ex-employer and a wealthy woollen merchant of High
Street who left 200k to Cardinal Cullen of Dublin, however the case was dismissed. Edward
and Ellen moved to Chestnut Lodge in 1875. Ellen died 30.05.1880 at Chestnut Lodge,
Booterstown Avenue, Blackrock. Edward a Blackrock Township Commissioner died at
Chestnut lodge on 30.01.1891, probate to George Patrick Daniel, ironmonger of 10 Sidney
Avenue, Blackrock.

2 Edward Joseph Williams youngest son born 08.03.1853 at Blackrock died
03.04.1854 aged 13 months at same place.
3 Edward John William born at Laburnum, Back Road, Blackrock on 27.12.1857
baptised at Blackrock on 30.12.1857.
4 Mary Anne Williams born 22.02.1860 at Back Road, Blackrock. Sponsors Robert and
Anna Mooney. Mary Anne died unmarried on 10.01.1915 at 57 Aughrim Street aged
54 years.
