Dr Bernard Neary MD of Howth son of Dr John Neary married Catherine Fay of Dalkey daughter
of James Fay on 16.08.1880 at the Roman Catholic Chapel in Dalkey. There were doctors in
three generations of the Neary family. Catherine died 18.04.1886 at 1 Victoria Terrace, Howth
and was buried at Glasnevin. Bernard died same place on 07.04.1891 and was buried with his
wife.
1 Susan Mary Pauline Neary born 05.07.1881 at 30 Holles Street of 1 Victoria Terrace
was baptised at Westland Row. Mary was living with her brother John in 1911. Mary
died unmarried on 02.10.1953 aged 72 years at St Joseph’s, Portland Row late of
Tudor House, Dundrum and is buried at Glasnevin.
2 Dr John Frederick Neary eldest son born 18.01.1883 at 11 Holles Street. John living
with his cousin Susan Fay and his siblings James and Mary at Moynehall, Cavan in
1911. John married Dr Marie Griffin eldest daughter of Dr Thomas Griffin of Louisburg,
Mayo on 20.06.1904 at the Registrar’s Office, Dublin. Marie died on 08.08.1923 at her
residence 4 Lee Terrace, Blackheath formerly of 54 Falcon Avenue, Edinburgh. John
died suddenly on 01.01.1940 aged 56 years at the Pavilion Bungalow, Kearsney.
3 Bernard Francis Mary Neary a twin born 08.12.1884 at 8 Holles Street. Bernard died
unmarried after returning from a Church Service on 23.12.1933 aged 49 years at
Castlering, Dundalk his bicycle beside him on the road.
4 Dr James Francis Mary Neary a twin born 08.12.1884 at 8 Holles Street, James was living
with his brother John in 1911. James the Medical Officer for the Dundrum area lived at
Tudor House, Dundrum until 1943 before moving to Belmont. James died unmarried on
26.04.1948 aged 63 years at the Meath Hospital, Dublin late of Belmont, Dundrum and is
buried at Glasnevin.
