NAME Trimleston Villa/Dornden
AREA LOCATION Bellevue Avenue
MAP LOCATION OSI map of 1898-1913 place it in the townland of Trimleston and is
annotated as Dornden. It was the on the district boundary lime.
GENERAL Trimleston Villa was described in 1863 as being built in the cottage
style. It had five bedrooms and three reception rooms, servants quarters and a good kitchen.
It had a stable and coach house, a garden and pleasure ground and was within 7 minutes walk
of Booterstown station. It was let by Mrs Hayes of 61 Dawson street and continued to be let
by Mrs Packenham nee Hayes of the same address in 1874. Described in 1874 as having 3
reception rooms, five bedrooms, coach house and stables. It was renamed Dornden circa 1876.
To let on 9 acres in 1901 and to auction on 9 acres in 1957. Dorden nurseries became the site
for a Shell garage in 1961 the old Merrion graveyard was revealed to the public when the trees
and some old buildings were removed.
YEAR BUILT circa 1820
VALUATION In 1918 the valuation was 65 pounds and in the 1901 census it is
noted as having 10 rooms occupied by the family.
