Joseph John Dollard born circa 1833 son of James Dollard (died 1847) and Margaret Seaver
(died 1866) of Foxhall, Raheny. Joseph was living at 39 Leinster Road and married Mary
Victoria Byrne on 16 Oct 1865 at Kildalkey Church, Co Meath. Mary was the only daughter
of the late James Byrne of Kildalkey. Joseph was a printer, publisher, lithographer, account
book maker, bookbinder and manufacturing stationer of Dame Street and Dame Lane,
Dublin in 1868. His younger brother Christopher married Lilly Kennedy in 1871. Mary died
from typhoid on 13 Feb 1872 at 83 Leinster Road.
1 Joseph Dollard baptised at Rathmines on 8 Oct 1866. He became managing director of
Dollards on the death of his father. He published the 19 volumes ‘Calendar of Ancient
Records of Dublin, in the Possession of the Municipal Corporation of that City’ for Dr John
T Gilbert. He was a master printer and married Sarah Brennan from Westmeath circa
1895 and they had five children of whom three survived in 1911. His leisure time pursuits
were spent yachting on Dublin Bay and motoring. They lived at Dalguise from 1925. On a
trip with his wife to visit Miss Martin, Joseph died on 30 Mar 1938 at Trudder Grange,
Newtownmountkennedy. Sarah was a Dominican Tertiary and took over as managing
director of Dollard Printhouse (Dublin) Ltd. His funeral mass was held at St Patrick’s
Church, Monkstown and he is buried at Glasnevin. He left 35k in personal estate. Sarah
died at Dalguise on 28 Aug 1941 aged 65, her daughter Josephine the informant. Her
funeral mass was held at St Patrick’s Monkstown and she is buried with her husband.
She was survived by three daughters. She left 36k in personal estate. She left £100 to
George Peter Orpen, secretary of the company, in recognition of long faithful service.

3 Kathleen (Nin) Dollard second daughter born 29 Mar 1898 in Raheny Park. She
married Dr Sylvester J Healy on 29 Jun 1926 at St Andrew’s Church, Westland Roe.
Sylvester was the eldest son of William Healy, a farmer of Hacketstown, Skerries.
They lived at Castleblaney where Katleen died 31 Aug 1950.

5 Sarah Mary (Kitty) Dollard youngest daughter born circa 1911 married Dr Herbert
Stanislaus Boyd Barrett on 12 Jul 1937 at St Patrick’s Church, Monkstown. Herbert
was resident at Port Sunlight, Cheshire and the son of James Charles Boyd Barrett of
7 Upper Sherrard Street. The bride wore a honey colour crepe ensemble with hat to
match. Her trousseau was supplied by Fran Fagan of Molesworth Street. The
reception was held in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dun Laoghaire. The couple left for
London en route to Holyhead to start their honeymoon. Herbert worked for Lever
Brothers in England before taking a position with the Institute of Reseacrh and
Standards in Dublin in 1948. The lived on Mount Merrion Avenue where Herbert died
in 1967. He was survived by his wife Kitty and three children.

baptised at Rathmines in April 1868 married Bernard H O’Reilly, Posilippo, Monkstown on
10 Jun 1889 at St John’s, Clontarf.
3 Maria Anna (Marion) Dollard baptised at Rathmines on 3 Mar 1870. She was living at St
Albans, 54 Northumberland Road and married Mark T Kelly, MD, TCD of Campbell House,
Clapham Common, London on 30 Aug 1894 at St Mary’s Church Haddington Road, Dublin.
Mark was the son of Thomas Kelly, a farmer.
4 James Peter Dollard youngest child baptised at Rathmines on 2 Feb 1872 died 21 Apr 1872
at Hampton House.
Joseph secondly married Marie Agnes Caulfield on 30 Aug 1873 at SS Mary & Peter, Rathmines.
Marie was the only surviving daughter of James Henry Caulfield and Rose Lalor of Newtown, Co
Kildare. The business moved from Dame Street to Wellington Quay in 1888 to a new premises
built on the site of the old Dublin Custom House. The new premises caused some difficulties and
he was taken to court by John Flynn of Parliament Street citing that his business was suffering from
loss of light and air due to height of Dollard's new building. Joseph died 19 Apr 1890 at Raheny
Park, Co Dublin and is buried at Glasnevin. He left 33k in personal estate, probate granted to his
son Joseph and his son in law Bernard O’Reilly.

6 James Caulfield Dollard born 26 Apr 1875. As second eldest son he married Catherine
Christina Delaney on 1 Jun 1896 at the Church of St Agatha. Catherine was the eldest
daughter of Michael Delaney of Charleville Mall. James died 13 Feb 1927 at Grangegorman
Mental Hospital.
7 John Caulfield Dollard fourth son born 26 May 1876 at Hampton House, Leinster Road
died at Southampton on 1 Nov 1884.
8 Christina Mary Dollard born 30 May 1877 at 83 Leinster Road, Rathmines died
8 Dec 1877 at Hampton House.
9 Thomas Louis C Dollard born 7 Oct 1878 at Hampton House, Leinster Road baptised at
Rathmines.
10 Bertha Dollard born 1 Feb 1880 died 28 Feb 1880 at Raheny Park.
11 Daniel Caulfield Dollard born 18 Aug 1881 at Raheny Park. He was an artist and married
Martha Desiree Janette (Mattie) Duigenan on 16 Feb 1904 at the Pro Cathedral. Martha
was resident at Mountjoy square and was the daughter of John Duigenan, surgeon/
physician and Desiree Van Der Eynde. By 1911 Daniel & Martha were living in Wanstead
and had a boarder called William Robert Frizelle living with them. William was an
unemployed school teacher from Mayo.

Martha had a relationship with William Frizelle. William enlisted and was killed in action on
13 Apr 1918. Martha was living in Wanstead in 1921 and using the surname Dollard Frizelle.
A Daniel William Robert Gerard Caulfield Dollard born 4 Jan 1912 in Croydon. (Father
given as Daniel at baptism). Using the surname Frizelle in 1921.
B Patricia May Dollard Frizelle born 31 Jan 1913 in Warwickshire. (Father given as Daniel
at baptism). Using the surname Frizelle in 1921.

Daniel enlisted, was wounded and awarded the silver war medal. He was working in
Wandsworth as a nurse for Gladys Stein in 1921 looking after her father in law. He
married Gladys Stein in 1923 at West Ham and and they had two children. He was indicted
for bigamy and attempted suicide in 1927. He was given a sentence of 7 months. He died
in Essex in 1937.
