John Thomas James Denham born circa 1867 West Cowes, Hampshire son of John Denham.
He was of 20 Grace Park, Drumcondra son when he married Alice Byrne on 03.01.1907 at
Mary Immaculate Lady of Refuge Chapel, Rathmines. She was resident at Emorville Avenue,
South Circular Road and the daughter of William Byrne. John had a varied career working
finally for Minimex Fire Extinguishers on Abbey Street, Dublin. Alice died on 21.05.1912 at 2
Vernon Terrace and is buried at Glasnevin.

2 Evelyn Alice Mary Denham born 19.08.1909 at 2 Emorville Avenue. Evelyn died of
Meningitis on 16.12.1912 aged 3 years 4 months at 20 Sandford Avenue of Vernon
Terrace.
3 Cecil Frederick Denman born 09.11.1911 at Vernon Terrace. Cecil an engineer of 10
Lower Grangegorman married Anne Faran of 119 Upper Rathmines daughter of
Thomas Fagan on 13.02.1938 at the Roman Catholic Church in Rathmines.
John a widower married secondly Mary Josephine Murtagh of Ormond Ville, Terenure daughter
of Stephen Murtagh on 09.02.1914 at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Terenure. They
lived at Roebuck Grove from 1917 to 1918. John was fined 10 shillings in October 1918 for
permitting petrol to be used for driving a motor car not expressly authorised by the Motor
Restriction Law of 1918 at Roebuck Grove. At the same time his chauffeur John J Caleb was
fined 5 shillings for driving a motor car without having a tail light to illuminate its identification
plate. Mary Josephine died on 11.08.1942 aged 54 years at Grangegorman late of 1A Garville
Road, Rathgar and is buried at Glasnevin. John died at the Royal City of Dublin Hospital,
Baggot Street late of Rathgar and Abbey Street. He is buried at Glasnevin.
4 Gerald Joseph Denham eldest son born 27.09.1915 at 2 Vernon Terrace. Gerald married
Mary F Maloney only daughter of Michael F Maloney of Cashel, Tipperary on 21.06.1944
at the University Church, Stephens Green, Dublin.
5 Ernest Frederick Denham born 22.10.1916 at 2 Vernon Terrace. Ernest a Clerk of Rathgar
married Catherine Reidy a Nurse of Knockdown, Athea daughter of Patrick Reidy on
18.01.1947 at the Roman Catholic Church of Mungret, Limerick.
6 Wilfred Edgar Denham born 23.12.1917 at Roebuck Grove. Wilfred died 23.04.1920 aged
2 years 4 months at Park View, Upper Terenure Road.
7 Horace Christopher Denham born 24.12.1918 at Roebuck Grove. Horace of 144 Furry Park,
Raheny married Eiveen Tuke of 18 Brighton Avenue, Rathgar daughter of Edward Tuke on
29.07.1946 at the Roman Catholic Church in Terenure.
8 Vera Mary Denham born 13.05.1920 at Parkview, Upper Terenure Road.
9 Sheila Josephine Denham born 13.12.1922 at 58 Dame Street, Dublin. Sheila of Inglewood,
Garville Road, Rathgar married Sergeant Charles des Gaulin RCAF at the Church of the Three
Patrons, Rathgar.
