John Delmege son of Captain Adam Dolmege born circa 1795. He took Holy orders and was
curate at Gort. He married Maria Anna Barry 21 Jul 1825 at St George’s Church, Dublin.
Maria was the daughter of Colonel Thomas Barry of Leigh's Brook, Co Meath and the Hon
Maria Julianna Evans. She was the granddaughter and co heiress of Rt Hon John Evans, fifth
Lord Carberry. John was appointed domestic chaplain to the Lord Bishop of Killaloe and
Clonfert and presented with the living of Kilconnell in 1834 and Youghalarra in 1836. In 1845
the Carberry estates in the Count of Limerick descended to John in right of his wife. Maria’s
mother was living with them at De Vesci House, Kingstown and died in 1847. John was rector
of Asbourne, Co Limerick by 1852 and lived at The Crescent, Limerick. He died 19 Apr 1874
at Pembroke Road. Maria died on 24 Oct 1883 at 37 Pembroke Road, Dublin.
1 Son and heir Delmege born August 1826 at Gort, Co Galway died before 1848.
2 Augustus Herbert Pembroke Delmege eldest child born at Gort in April 1828. He
died from influenza at 1 Pembroke Place on 10 Jan 1848.
3 John Evans Delmege born 17 May 1829 at Gort educated at Trinity and admitted
Kings Inns in 1852. He was appointed a magistrate in Limerick in 1860. As eldest
son he married Constance Studdert on 5 Dec 1865 at Monkstown Church. Constance
was the eldest daughter of Richard Studdert, JP and Frances Massy of Fort House, Co
Clare. John died on 17 Apr 1892 at 13 Royal Terrace East, Kingstown. His widow
Constance was his executor. Constance died 25 Dec 1926 and was buried at Mount
Jerome.
1 Frances Maria Constance (Constance) Delmege born 9 Jan 1867 at Lower Mount
Street unmarried and living with her mother at Rathmines in 1901.
2 John Richard Delmege eldest son born 12 Aug 1870 at Tivoli Terrace, Kingstown.
He was a doctor based in Selangore and married Clara Churton on 21 Jan 1903
in Singapore.
4 Maria Juliana Evans Delmege eldest daughter born October 1831 at Gort died
unmarried 30 Sep 1909 at Belgrave Road, Rathmines.
5 Emily Jane Barry Delmege born 30 May 1833 in Gort. She married Lt Colonel Francis
Hugh Massy Wheeler of Tivoli House on 17 July 1861 at St Munchin’s Church, Limerick.
Francis was the son of the late Lt Col Hugh Wheeler and Hon Margaret Massy of
Burlington Street Bath.
6 Margaret Isabella Johanna Delmege born circa 1838 at Gort died unmarried on
31 May 1916 at Tavistock, Foxrock.
7 Adam William Stafford (Stafford) Delmege born 24 Jul 1839 educated at Trinity and
admitted Kings Inns in 1864. He was a practising Barrister at Law of 42 Mount Street.
As second son he married Jane Denny on 15 Jun 1871 at St Peter’s Church Dublin.
Stafford was living at 37 Pembroke Road and Jane was the daughter of Reverend Barry
Denny of 36 Fitzwilliam Street and Cahirciveen. Jane died 23 Mar 1884 at Upper
Fitzwilliam Street. She left 14k in personal estate and her executor was her husband.
He secondly married Frances Catherine (Fannie) Scott at Booterstown Church on
5 Jun 1888. Fannie was living at Clareville, Blackrock and was the daughter of James
William Butler Scott, JP of Queen’s County and heiress to her uncle John Bolton Massy
of Ballywire, Tipperary and Clareville, Blackrock. Stafford was a JP for Co Tipperary
and lived at Ballywire, Co Tipperary. He was also a JP for County Limerick. He was
executor to John Bolton Massey of Clareville in 1896 who left 17k in personal estate.
Clareville was sold to the Fathers of the Holy Ghost Father in 1900 and became part of
Blackrock College. Fannie and Stafford were staying at the Shelbourne Hotel in 1901.
Fannie died of TB on 24 Feb 1912 aged 52 years at St Patricks Hospital, Cork. Stafford
died 1 Feb 1927 at Ballywire and left 28k in unsettled personal estate. Probate granted
to his son Hugh. The Delmage estate at Ballywire was taken over by the Land
Commission in 1930.
1 Eyre Bolton Massy Delmege born 1889 at Melton Mowbray, England was educated
at Woodtown House boarding School in Whitechurch, Dublin, Harrow and Trinity
College, Oxford. He enlisted and was with the East Lancashire Regiment and was
awarded the Military Cross. He was wounded and died on 25 Oct 1916 in France.
He left 8k in personal estate.
2 Hugh Barry Evans Delmege born 25 Mar 1891 at Hastings, England was educated
at Woodtown House boarding school, Whitechurch, Dublin and at Harrow. He was
a captain in the Bedfordshire Yeomanry. He died unmarried on 16 Feb 1928 at the
Elphis Hospital on Mount Street late of Ballywire, Co Tipperary and was buried at
Mount Jerome. He left 27k in personal estate.
8 Julius James John Delmege born circa 1840 died unmarried on 5 Mar 1907 late of 12
Belgrave Road, Rathmines.
9 Henrietta Octavia Delmege born circa 1842. She married Thomas Bourchier on
4 May 1861 at St Michael’s Church, Limerick. Thomas was the eldest son of John
Bourchier of Shannon View, Co Clare and the grandson of the late Richard Townsend
Herbert of Cahernane, Killarney. They lived at Dromline Co Clare. Thomas died
19 Aug 1895 and was buried at Deansgrange. Henrietta died on 12 Jul 1906 at Braemar,
Bray and was buried with her husband.
1 John Herbert Bourchier born circa 1867 died unmarried at 52 Sydney Avenue,
Blackrock in 1935 and was buried with his parents at Deansgrange.
2 Herbert Francis Bourcier born circa 1870 was a solicitor and died unmarried at
Tavistock, Foxrock in 1922. He was buried with his parents at Deansgrange.
10 Eveline Ida Anna Johanna Delmege born May 1845 at 67 Upper Baggot Street, the
residence of her grandmother the Hon Maria Julianna Barry. She died a spinster on
4 Jun 1894 at Palmerston Road, Rathmines formerly of 37 Pembroke Road. Her sister
Maria was her executor.
