Laurence Clonan an asylum attendant at the Central Asylum in Dundrum son of Laurence
Clonan married Elizabeth Newman daughter of Francis Newman in 1895. In 1911 Laurence
was still working at Dundrum Asylum and Elizabeth was working in a boot shop. They
lived at 1 campfield Terrace in 1912/13. Laurence died at Jervis Street Hospital on
11.04.1945 late of 120 Upper Dorset Street and is buried at Deansgrange. Elizabeth died
at St Kevin's Hospital on 31.07.1948 late of 120 Upper Dorset Street and was buried with
her husband. Only one son survived at the time of her death.
1 Mary Clonan born 28.05.1899 at the Rotunda Hospital. Mary of 14 Charlotte Street
married John Flood a Motor Driver son of Francis Flood of 2 McGowans Terrace,
Ranelagh on 08.01.1922 at the Roman Catholic Church of St Kevin.
2 Laurence Clonan born 07.06.1900 at 14 Rugby Road living with his mother at
Rosemount in 1911. In 1912 he narrowly escaped being sent to an Industrial school
having been found guilty of stealing melons and cucumbers from the garden of
Drummartin House.
3 Francis Clonan born circa May 1902 and died 22.12.1902 aged 7 months at Rosemount.
4 Francis Joseph Clonan born 24.09.1905 at Rosemount, Dundrum living with his mother
at Rosemount in 1911. He was a shoe maker and married Annie Tracey on 07.08.1949
at Christ the King Church, Cabra. He died late of Dorset Street on 29.01.1972 and was
buried at Deansgrange.
5 Thomas Clonan born 17.05.1910 at Rosemount, Dundrum living with his mother at
Rosemount in 1911.
6 Elizabeth Clonan born 17.05.1910 at Rosemount, Dundrum. Lily died on 30.12.1931
aged 21 years at the Mater Hospital late of 49 Harcourt Street and is buried at
Deansgrange.
